can you take before and after shots of the "xbox hitting the wall mod", also a tutorial on how to make your xbox hit a wall might be good.  Also does anybody know the legalities of making your xbox hit a wall, will M$ be upset with me if my xbox hits a wall  ? and lastly, how will this effect my warranty  laugh.gif

im not sure but i guess u can try this smile.gif  try flashing the chip before installing. i was thinking that the battery used in the programmer is used for powering the modchip. and it wasnt needed for the chip to be installed in the xbox. from the pics on xbox scene it also shows the modchip and the programmer hooked together outside the xbox. just my guess dont have a matrix i have xecuter and even tho its a dead in mod i love it smile.gif not one single problem unlike lik-sang pcbioxx that i fried 2 xbox's trying to install. no flamming tho smile.gif

peace

well if you were able to flash it then the chip is fine
now that you get that error it means u didnt connect it properly
or u didnt press the paralel port all the way

take off the programmer,
put the chip on (firmly)
put the programmer on.
you should get a red light.

run the flash command with your bios u want to use.

I sat down all night and tested all the bios files i had! (even enigmah hahah) I just wanted to put it to the test... its working great here.

Maybe you are doing something wrong?

QUOTE (tazkmar @ Oct 1 2002, 04:51 AM)
Of course, par for the night.  after 5 hours of dicking around now I can't even flash anymore?  what the hell.  this is what I get.

S:\XBOX - Extras\Matrix Chip>wmilk -c -a ffc00000 -v -p 256k.evox2.4.bin
Milksop GPL Reflasher - 0.10 - ©2002 [email protected]

CHEAPLPC on printer port at 0x378
LPC bus error - peripheral returned SYNC=0F
error getting device ID at address FFC00000
Device not supported

I tested the battery still good.  rebooted the pc.  no luck.

I had no problems with the installation of the Matrix chip.  It worked right away and is screwed in tight enough.  I really don't think it's going to move around.  At least, I hope not!!!

As for flashing with wmilk.exe, it took 5 or 6 tries to get the thing to successfully flash.  (I flashed it with EvoX 2.5)  The first try gave a message exactly like the one you listed ("SYNC=0F ...etc... Device not supported")  On subsequent attempts, I was getting the SYNC=0F messages at various addresses during the flash process, but persistence paid off and on the sixth try it flashed the entire chip and verified it successfully.  Oh, and I didn't bother to reboot the PC during this process.  Just make sure the red light comes on on the Matrix when you've got it and the (battery-equipped) programmer connected and plugged into the parallel port on your PC.

Once you get it flashed correctly, if you can't get the chip to work reliably in the Xbox, perhaps you could try flipping the spacer over so the little teeth are the other way around or perhaps bending the teeth of the spacer out a bit?  Maybe a little bit more grab is what it needs...

Good luck!

first of all I finally have the chip working and booting evox.  however additional problem still exists with flashing.

as for flashing - I was able to flash originally every time with no errors.  everytime it did its thing and reported that it verified just fine.  now of course I can't flash the chip anymore.  eb2k tech said to send it in.  something must have shorted out or the 9v battery zapped something.  now I have to send it in and wait for another.  the problem I have now is that the programmer can't see the chip.  the chip light don't even turn red when its connected.

as for how is the chip working now vs before?  first of all b4 some of you start chiming in.  I had green flashing light.   this is a no brainer folks.  but the box still wouldn't boot evox.  I literally sat at the box and kept ever so slightly untightening the screw and kept rebooting.  eventually I was able to boot up evox.  I still seems pretty snug so it is where it's staying for the moment.  No I didn't use a get it snug + 2 more turns method.  Just a snug feeling at first and it still didn't work.

by the way for those still not willing to belive.  while last night I spent 5 1/2 hours. yes!  today when I decided to give it one more try it literaly only took 3 minutes.  And thats with the slight adjustments to the screw.

go figure.  thanks to all for offering input.

so it works?

i got confused after reading all that

someone said (not sure if its true) that the green light tester indicator works for a minute or so... so when u see the green light, tighten your screw and switch to your mode (e.g 3)

in irc people reported that it doesnt move at all even when they try to get it off its hard (unless u really wanna brake it)

People who say they have fried their xbox, or a couple or even more in some instances don't seem at all bothered?!  This is a lot of money wasted.  Think of all the full priced games you could have got for the cost of 2 xbox's??  If you fuck up 1 xbox maybe that means that you weren't born to be messing with complicated gear!!  Some people are so dumb!
