Aladdin Xt On A 1.0 With X2 Bios
« on: May 11, 2006, 01:30:00 AM »

Hope someone can help.  I've installed the Aladdin Xt chip in my 1.0 xbox and flashed the bios with X2.  If it leave my original 8Gb HD in the machine, I can run Halo 2 from the retail DVD no problem.  But when I put my WD 160 GB HD in again, Halo 2 always freezes on me right after the "resume" screen.  I've tried clearing my E:\cache\ X:Y:Z: directories and no luck.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Thank you

i think its because your using 160gb hd if i where you i would use evo bios and reinstall everything .

as i had that prob also could be the cable upgrade the ide cable to the fast type.

give it a go.

Thanks... I'll give it a shot and see,

Was it the cable that solved the problem or the bios...

For some reason, my slayer's evo disk shows my chip as "unknown" so I can't get the evo bios on...

Only HackDaBox's reflash CD works for me and that's the X2 bios.

This isn't really related to a function or problem of your chip m8. The reason you can only flash with hdb's reflash cd is because he added the extra lines of code to enable flashing the sst49fl20a flashrom.  You can reflash by getting the extra lines of code which should be in the faqs and adding them to evox.ini I believe, or use the special version of x flash (version 3 if memory serves) to flash it.  I think you should also try another copy of Halo2, and also try and see how it does running off of the hard drive (the 160gb). There could also be something quirky about the hard drive (maybe not reading or writing properly)

Thanks a lot US..... Halo 2 works perfect when loaded on the HD but that doesn't let me play on live... I've tried 3 different retail copies playing from the DVD and no dice.

So is this just a Bios problem or could it be a LBA28 / LBA48 problem??

Hmmm... Im not too sure, as my expertise is the aladdin chips and not problems with the games...all I can say is perhaps try a newer bios... or searching to see if anybody else has the problem.  It could also be a LBA48 Problem but I don't know much about that as Im an old school modder.  When I began my modding career, 120gigs was the absolute biggest you could go...and naturally....thats what I went for, I have done the occasional 160 or bigger hard drive for people but I no longer remember what I did as It has been so long.

Thanks again....

Well, if you're an old schooler, then maybe you can help me with this.

I've got another 1.0 box with an Alladdin XT pro chip in it that will boot and do everything correct for about an hour,  then without fail, the machine will reset and try to reboot three times then die and stay off.  I have to unplug for about 10 minutes, power up and reset the clock again.

thoughts?

You help so far has been MUCH appreciated.

ps... go figure, now that Halo is on the HD... I can play via the DVD on live no problem... weird
