Removing A Modchip (cheapmod)

hey there guys, im just wondering if i could just snip the wires leading to my modchip, thus removing it to solder on again at a later stage.
I know about desoldering, but im just wondering if it is possible.

Its a 1.1 and intend to flash the tsop on this xbox, and use the modchip to revive an old one.
