Going Insane With 1.6-1.6b..
« on: March 09, 2006, 08:11:00 AM »

I've modded about 20 1.6-1.6b's with sst49lf020 (not sst49lf020a).  I program them myself, jump all the wires on the chip, rebuild the lpc and wire the chip to the lpc.  I've had no problems until a couple days ago.

I flashed one with m8_16plus for a 1.6b box, and all worked great.  After transfering some files and trying to jump back to avalaunch dash, it locked at a blank screen, and the eject lcd started to flash (just like it would had I wired the chip wrong).  I assumed I had a bad solder point, so I resoldered all points and tried again.

It booted fine, but after a while it locked (it only locks up when going from one app to another, never during execution of an application or game.).  I rechecked this thing at least 10 times and I'm sure it's correct.  Another strange thing is that after locking up, it wont boot at all.  If I leave it sit unplugged it will boot after a while (hours).

Now it gets better.....

I let that one be, and started to mod a 1.6 with m8_16 and the exact same thing as above happened.  Now I'm really pulling my hair out since I've never had a problem modding a 1.6, and now I have 2 in a row doing the same thing.......  The only thing different is I did change to a new spool of wire before modding these, and it seems a tad thinner.  The wire I used for these mods is 30 AWG Kynar.  I'm not sure the gauge of the wire I've been using for the last 3 years, but it is a bit stiffer (not much, but noticable).

So, here I sit not having a clue what the prob may be, so any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
