Did it come pre-flashed? Are you having problems with this BIOS?

I'd use X2 4981 (resized to 512K)..

Sounds like your chip has come pre-flashed with Flashbios, which is a bios that is used to flash another bios (which will do all the things you want) onto your chip.

You have got your install working correctly, that is the hardest part, well done!

Follow this guide to make a disc with your X2 4981 on it: http://www.teamxecut...lashbios/cd.htm (dont use X3 bios!)

Then flash as in this guide: http://www.teamxecut...shbios/disc.htm

Sounds like it was shipped with the legal bios files.  You have to reflash it using a disc.  Also try booting from the other bank by flipping the switch.  The other bank may have Flashbios on it.  Flashbios allows a flash update using your browser when the PC and Xbox are hooked up to a router.  You will need the X2_4981.06 bios file sized to 512k.

Ha! thanks for the replies men, Novakpower you say the bios file should be 512k , I was under the impression it was 1M  for the muppet x ?
thats what it says on the ads ?
Installing was the easy part ! The software side is the bit I struggle to get my head round, theres so much to read up on for a miserable noob like me uhh.gif

Modchip Info You will see here the the Muppet X has a 1Mb chip but is only accessed as 2X512k banks.  Thats what the switch is for.  Also try the other bank, it looks like it might have the Evox bios on it.

Sure you haven't spent that much time on searching... Hint: google for x2 4981 bios. There should be something, at least I think so. dry.gif Or you should look into the usual place, #xb*ns.

 regards, Stephen

pS: I suggest the X2 bios rather than m8 especially in earlier machines.

Yes thanks for that m8, I`m on the works network so sometimes links don`t work etc ....Nothing seemed to work on X-b*ns.
That bios has worked thank Kylie !!
I`m extremely chuffed now onwards to loading a different dashbord.
I`ll know what I`m on about in a bit.  rolleyes.gif

Can anyone help me out with problem?

I have installed the muppet x to my console v1.6 but it's not working all that happens is the led on chip comes on briefly when i press power button then you can hear the box trying to boot up but it just fails and then the lights on front of box just flash red and yellow.

I have checked all the solders and they are all fine, any ideas?

No, sorry mate , you have it plugged on the right way round obviously ? as the led wouldn`t come on otherwise I suspect. Its not obvious which way to plug it on . Facing outwards is right. Check solder splashes otherwise and the DO connection as this isn`t easy to solder to . I suppose they do get duff ones ?

You could check that by flicking the switch and booting from the other bios i think .
Otherwise soldering ? faulty chip I suppose.

Tried both the banks and getting same result thats wot makes me think it will prob be either solder or chip but don't know that much about it.
