Duo X2 And Crystal Problems
« on: April 20, 2005, 05:35:00 PM »

I've fitted aladdin advances chips previously but this was my first duox2 install.
i had my first crystal and it didn't go to plan.
Installed pinheader and lpc rebuild chip and only booted to original ms dash.

So I removed the lpc rebuild and tried it with the wires.

Basically not a good idea, even with the chip removed it tries to boot up them frags using eject or power on button so I am guessing I have damaged the D0 point.

Is there any way of repairing this or does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this(the pin header is still in but no chip attached.

Any help appreciated as it's not my xbox.

Can you post a picture of the Lframe point? Does it look damaged? You are going to have to trace the via back to the next sound via and link a wire between the 2.

Appreciate the reply chancer to be honest I've given up on it,ordered a new motherboard with a duox2 fitted.
Just done a 1.3 and the damn thing is fragging on the power button (chip on)but fine on the eject(original bios).

The aladdins went alot better than the duox2's for me,but I'll learn.
I'll check out your excellent troubleshooting guide Chancer had a look at it last night but I removed the lpc rebuild and prob most of the points connected to it!!
No such worry with the 1.3.

Thanks again for your reply ;)

Mmm,other post closed, can't see anything here that contridicts what I said in my new post.
I asked if there was an alternative d0 point on the topside of a 1.6.

I have repaired the lpc but a small section of trace is missing so I was wondering if there was another d0 point on the top.

Just because I have another motherboard coming doesn't mean i can't try and repair this one does it,I see that learning to repair such problems.i got the 1.3 working fine so that has encouraged me t otry and fix the 1.6.

Nice to see there is no elitism here eh?
Still I'm sure most of you experts got it right first time and didn't need help.

Prob more likely you don't want too many people knowing what to do.

Maybe you would like to read to forum rules before shooting your mouth off again!

On th 1.6 you could just cut the top Lframe trace. Wire Pin 9 (G) on the DuoX to the bT pad on the DuoX and see if it boots always on. If not you would have to repair the damage
