The reason i have not replied to this post earlier is simple, There are hundreds of posts about the spiderchips and each one has many different ways to fix the problem now if you don't want to read them then thats your choice but i will only reply to problems that are not common with these chips as all the main problems with fitting , bad connection and flashing have allready been solved / answered.

I do not mean to be rude or stop you from asking questions but i do expect you would have atleast used the search button before posting and i can't believe a search for SPIDERCHIP didn't tell you all the problems and answers !

PS Your chip is not faulty nor is it missing a bios ... it just needs a solid connection to the lpc and then a correct bios flashed to it as alot of users that finally get their spider booting go ahead and flash it using X2 bios on a V1.6 which is not compatible !

These are not good chips from a solderless install point of view at all and will take some messing with. If you get really stuck install it on a pinheader or get someone to solder it for you. These chips do work ok soldered in.

Noob question I assume, but how to I remove that pogo pin without a soldering iron?  I have some neednose pliers, but I do not know if I just tug, twist.....or if I have to desolder that little but of solder on the other side of the chip holding the pin in????

Not sure what u mean with "spring part" but i assume that you meant the pin that's not necessary. yepp just chopped it right of smile.gif, dont know why it doesnt fit right with this pin still there but it fitted perfectly without it.

I will try it.  I was thinking you meant that you just cut off the tip, but I am assuming you meant you severed  it close to the chip.....

OK so did it flash ok for you 6thSense ?

Use X2 4981.06 bios for V1.0 to V1.5

Or

Use Evox M8 Plus V1.6 for V1.6

and use this guide to make your disc

Hell naw it didn't flash right.  Looking at your posting and a few others, I think it may be user error though...lol.  I flashed it with 4979 and it is a version 1.6 xbox.  May be the reason why it is frag'ing.  I posted this on another thread, but just to spread the wealth fellas, I flashed it.....and after it flashed, it powered down and rebooted.  Upon rebooting, it frag'd and has frag'd ever since.

Which leads to this question I suppose.  After someone f's up like myself and flashes it with the wrong bios, how do you correct that?  Assuming this person's only method of flashing is via a disc,

Well it's been a tough battle but the war isn't over yet !

It's not too late !

Do as i would do and grab that other SpiderChip and your fingernail clippers and cut the stupid pin off and fit this chip prefectly.

This time flash it with the correct bios. Then when it's all done and good you can hotswap and fix your bad chip.

Or if the other xbox you have to do is not a V1.6 the bad chip will go straight in ! It's allready programmed and ready to run !

Either would work. But if you do it the first way , you will need a evox boot disc with the extra line added to flash your spiderchip. You can download evox dashboard 3935 from xbins and edit the evox.ini file and add this line to it

Flash = 0xbf52,"Spiderchip",0x40000

Also you may have to rename the evoxdash.xbe to default.xbe because to boot from a cdrw or dvd-r you must have something called default.xbe

Or just use your second idea and fit the 2nd chip and at the flashbios screen change to the bad chip and load bios from disc. You don't need to insert any legs of the spider to flash it on V1.0 to V1.5 but on a V1.6 you would need the legs fitted so it's alot easier to hotswap using an earlier model.

What is the other model xbox you are going to chip ? Hopefully not a V1.6. The easiest hotswap of all is using a V1.0 to V1.5 xbox that has a pinheader and a chip as you can boot from the chip unplug it and then plug your spider on it and flash without inserting any legs.

As with all hotswaps be carefull ! Do not touch anywhere near the power supply when the power is on and there is no need as the area you are working with is nowhere near the power supply. Turn the dvd-rom around facing the wrong way to give yourself room to work.

You really did well with your spiderchip and didn't really have to much trouble apart from the snipping problem and now you know how to fix that. If you had of flashed the correct bios the first time your install would of been a breeze !
