Introducing The "spiderchip Reflash Cd"
« Reply #30 on: February 23, 2005, 12:30:00 AM »

wow... this must be one of the useless (except for the skin, that's awesome) ideas ever.

there is no reason for a bios cd, just to "keep your favorite bios".

in evox, just put the following line in evox.ini and it will list all the bios' in c:\bios\

Item "Flash BIOS",ID_Flash_Bios

just name your bios files correctly like this, and you should be fine:

M8.bin
M8__67.bin           (or M8_67.bin)
M8_16.bin
M8_16_67.bin
M8plus.bin
M8plus__67.bin     (or M8plus_67.bin)
M8plus_16.bin
M8plus_16_67.bin

or if you have extra features in it something like this:
M8plus_16_67__BlueX_RedLed_WhiteXboxLogo.bin
or however you want, just so it makes sense.

anyways, keep on making the skin, as that is really cool... but the bios cd is quite unnessary... in most situations.

you would already need to have a bios on a CD or HDD to flash over the default cromwell bios.

it's much easier to have that menu in your evox.ini anyways.

the only reasons i see use for this cd is if the xbox owner does not have a computer, and needs a new bios for a bigger HDD or something.  OR if your evox menu is completely idiot/child-proof where all advanced settings are on the cd, and only play DVD, copy DVD, play game on HDD, reboot, and shutdown (maybe XBMC) are on the menu with FTP, Telnet, and all that turned off.

but those arent most cases, and that would require more than your CD.

i think that this project is quite usless, but thats just me.  nice skin though.

I have to disagree. A lot of people who fit spiders are not too confident technically (hence fitting solderless chips), many will have the flash disabled on the version of evoxdash they have and plenty have already asked for a source for the disc when its done so just because you don't require it (although I can not be sure of an installer who only fits solderless chips) does not mean it will not help people out. Its no different to your install guide for spider chips which ahs been said in many posts in the past 2 months, and should actually read get the spider soldered in.
Carry on with the bios disc i like it and I like the skin as well.

not true.  all you need is a modified version of Slayers 2.6 (modified with the flash type of the Spiderchip 1.1) and you would have a much better flash disk because it would also install evox and whatnot.

Don't have to wait for the so called spider evox flash cd. You can immediately download a useable one from:
http://www.divineo.c...les/exflash.iso

It is actually Evox with SST 49LF020A flash IDs, "bf52" and "dab0", already added.  You probably need to add more bioses yourself.

He has not replied to my Pm so maybe he left. I was trying to offer him a way of hosting his project but maybe he gave up on it. Most people would be able to make up one of these themselves with whatever customisation they want I suppose

So what are the correct FLASH settings in evox.ini for the spider chip?
Flash      = 0xbf52,"49LF020A",0x40000
Flash      = 0xdab0,"49LF020A",0x40000

I dont have a spider or any other 20A based chip
but are planing to update my own flashdisk.. can i use the above example?

a tip for everyone making a boot disk.. dont make one using  DHCP.. not everyone have a router / DHCP server... if using a static IP its possible to change the adress of the PC

Good News Everyone !

I have made a Spiderchip Reflash Cd for you all !

It is only a little over 1 meg to download but will extract to over 50 megs. I have included a dummy file and made it a xbox iso so all you need to do is download it , unrar it and burn it using nero burning rom. Just choose burn image file , even nero express works fine. Do not choose multisession disc.

It's so easy to flash your spiderchip now , no editing , no guessing. It works perfectly for aladin xt modchips as well.

If anyone has better graphics or the original skin i will add it if you give it to me. Ideas are welcome but atleast there is no reason you all can't reflash now.

Please remember you must of flashed a hacked bios onto your spiderchip using the flashbios previously in order to boot the disc.

It uses a static ip of 192.168.0.3 at present i might make a dhcp one later !          ( noobs just ignore this giberish ! )
