Aladdin Xt Problem
« on: January 28, 2005, 05:00:00 AM »

i was hoping someone could help me out. ive got a v1.1 xbox with aladdin xt chip pin header install, 80 gb hd, evox dash. the problem is when i hold down the power button to turn on the mod chip it turns orange, the chip beeps 3 times turns off then loads the m$ dash clock to reset the time.
it is doing it about 80% of the time i turn it on, any ideas on what the problem might be??

I had a similar problem doing a wire install on a v1.0.  It would make 3 high pitch noises then turn off; a few times I got the chip to work...  I never figured it out why it was doing that (tested all LPC points with multi and ensured no wires were crossed).  The Xbox was a refurb by the way.

OK well the chip can't beep as it doesn't have a speaker so thats the xbox complaining ! Remove the chip and make sure the xbox boots fine 100% of the time and if it does solder a wire to the back of the mobo to the alternate d0 point and to the circle around the closest screw hole , this will force the chip to allways boot. Don't bother with bt or l1 or d0 ... just plug the aladdin xt on to the header pin and turn on the xbox and if it still doesn't work resolder all the lpc points. If this still doesn't solve your problems try hotswapping the chip on another box and programming the chip with a suitable bios like X2 4981.
