i had the same problem so i just used a piece of electrical tape and taped the end farthest from the screw down real tight use a long piece of tape and get someone to hold it in place as you tape.

When the installation of the spider mod chip v.1 was finsihed, it began to install the programs. When the program installation was almost finished the screen came up with a message that said "Programming Failed". Now the x-box won't even beggin to load the program again, the d was crossed with the e. I'm not exactly sure what to do. So if i could get a little help that would be greatly apreciated.

Guys
Ive installed 4 different Modchips in over 30+ xboxs and I have to say that the Spiderchip was a pain in the nuts to get attached to 1.6 Board correctly.

For what its worth and it might not work for everyone please try this :

Oh and Spiderchip.com should read this too......

1. I inserted the brass rivets which come with most modchips into the appropiate holes.

2. I used the long screw which ships witth the Xenium Ice modchip

3. I got an aluminium washer aprox 1.5mm- 2.00mm thick.

4. I placed both washers on mainboard and located Chip on top.

5 . I just barely tightened chip.

6. Then as i was powering on xbox I tweaked the screw a litle until the BIOS screen appeared. After a couple of attempts I had a booting 1.6 Xbox.

BTW : This was the same method I had to use for the old Xodus MAtrix Modchip before no solder adaptors were common.

Its great to get a lovely mettalic case but please Spiderchip - provide a decent screw , some rivets and a couple of proper washers.

Hope this helps.

I just got my modchip today and was installing it and realized my holes that I need to stick the wires in are filled in!  Not all of them were filled in but positions A, C, and E are. The holes are so small that I really have no idea what I could use to 'poke' through them if thats even possble.

What the heck can I do about this?

After countless attempts, I finally broke the C wire. This thing is garbage. I should have believed what everyone said. The screw they provide isn't long enough. After replacing it and seating all the wires, I got a flashing red/green. The only thing that works is the on/off. Switching to off got my original dash back. I guess I have two options. See I can solder the spidey leg back and spend another 4 hours of hell trying to get it working....or send back to the Modchipstore. Hope their return policy is a good one.

Good luck to all....

Ok i have a 1.1 chip and 1.6b xbox, all wires in the correct holes (from the new updated manual on spiders website) and pushing down on the pogopins to make sure contact is made. and all i get is frag, if i remove the wires and leave the chip on the lpc board or not it boots to ms dash no problems. so i make sure all wires are installed again perfectly and still frag.. what possibly could be the issue? i heard it is rare that the chip itself has a bad bios, could this be the case? worst case scenario think divineo will allow me to swap chips? id rather not swap just get this one to work.
