will the spiderchip 1.0 work with EvoX M8 Bios 1.6 and UnleashX_0_37_1218A, this is all on a version 1.6 xbox?

Yes, but you're better off using EvoX M8+ 1.6 (the "plus" version works on all 1.6 Xboxes including the 1.6b).

thanks, im pretty sure ive got it, mine read M8plus_bios though, which im guessing is the same. i was just cheacking because i do not know much about the bios sizes and what works, thanks a lot Perplexer.

hi I'm new to the xbox scene and only got my xbox like 3 weeks... enjoying it lots but alas only on original games altho Im loving Live! on  some games... I really wanted to turn my box into a media center to play dvd's and divxs and the odd "backup" game now and again...

I have order a spiderchip which should be arriving tomorow or thursday... I asked baldbouncer.co.uk (where I ordered my chip) if it was version 1.0 or 1.1 but he said 1.1 had not been released but I've seen some forums around suggesting it has so not sure on that :S

I have a crystal xbox manufactured in august 2004 and apparently this is a 1.6 from a checker program I used... I am quite pc and networking competent...

Anyhow I have some question pondering me now and I would like to try and get them answered...

1. I have seen 2 bioses that should work on the spiderchip... the EvoX M8_16/M8plus_16 OR there is the Xecuter 2 4891/3 - is there any difference in these 2 different bioses or will they both do the same thing... considering I'm a newcomer to the xbox worl which would be easier for me? I know how to flash the chip but just choosing one is a toughie or am I looking too deep into it all?

2. Once the spiderchip has been flashed successfully how do I load the dashboard on the system? Is there an FTP on one o those bioses that will allow me to do this?

3. What's the deal with locking/unlocking a hardrive? Does this need to be done as some guides don't mention anyhting about this and some do but don't tell you if it needs to be lock or unlocked :S

As far as I'm aware this modding should be fairly simple...  

Say the installation of the chip went fine and worked ok -
The steps to me seem :
a) flash chip
B) ftp into box and back box drives and then install dashboard and other software (such as xbox media center)
c) play "backup" games and watch/listen to divx/mp3's on Xbox media center

did I miss something?  

I have tried to look around but could not find enough comprehensive answers/guides so if I have missed a forum/topic please link it in here...

1) Use M8Plus_16

2) Find SlaYers_EvoX_Auto-Installer_v2.6_FINAL in the usual places. Don't ask where. Burn to CDRW or better yet (and cheaper), DVD-R (not +). After you've installed the bios, turn off XBOX, restart with Slayer's disc in, and it will boot, giving you many options of what to do (see .pdf with Slayer's to help you choose correct option). Slayer's Evox has ftp support.

3) If you wish to play XBOX LIVE, you must disable the chip and boot the regular bios. If you boot with new bios and try to go LIVE, you will be banned. If you never want to go on LIVE, there is no need to lock the HD. If you do, you must lock the HD, this is the only way you can boot the original M$ bios (if you turn off your chip and boot with a locked HD, you can do this).

**make sure you determine exactly which version your XBOX is (can only be done by opening your XBOX). If you have 1.6b instead of 1.6, you must find another bios to use (search this forum for anwers to that problem)

1. Could someone expand further on what the plus edition has more, i thought it was only optional language packs or something?

2. Just say he didn't want the other stuff that comes with slayers just evoX dash, can be burn that by itself to a cd and this will work the same?

ya I think I might just ftp into the box once the new bios is on and manually put a dash on....
