Modded Xbox And Non Modded Xbox
« on: December 27, 2004, 02:59:00 PM »

I have tried to search the forums about this but cannot find anything. Is it possible to use my modded xbox to set up a hard drive with avalaunch on it and put it in a non modded xbox (no chip)? Do I have to lock it or is it possible to lock it from my box and have it work on the other box? I am guessing I would have to rename avalaunch.xbe - xboxdash.xbe since there is no chip telling it to boot to avalaunch. The non chip box wouldn't be used on xbox live so that wouldn't be a problem. Thanks for all the help.

You can prepare the hard drive in a modded xbox but you will need to either install modchip/tsop or softmod the xbox in order to swap hard drives and run apps or other dashboards on the other xbox...MS Bios won't run Avaluanch or any unassigend code.

OK. Thanks. I think I finally found out part of the answer just as you were posting. Is it easier to set up the hard drive on a modded box or is there not much advantage? I am not sure about the softmod yet but I may try if it isn't too hard and if I can easily set up a hard drive on my box. I am a bit of a noob but I try to find things out by myself. I was able to put in an xecuter 3 and a 160gig hard drive in my box without too much trouble and without too many questions here.

Thanks again for the help.

it really depends on what your resources are....i upgraded my 160gb to 400gb and i had to send the data to my pc and then back to the 400gb.  i think either way you dice it up ur gonna need 2 transfers, unless you had 2 modded xboxes, which makes it MUCH easier ie Avalaunch.
