Crystal 1.6 With Duox2 Death
« on: December 03, 2004, 10:32:00 AM »

New Crystal 1.6 xbox fitted with a DuoX2 chip Flashed with EvoX M8.
Worked for about a week. But now when it was turned off, it suddenly wouldnt power back on. Not good.

Anyone got any ideas what might cause this?

Looks like my problem might be fixed by using this tutorial:
http://downloads.ozxodus.com/Guides/Xbox_v...esurrection.pdf

Thats the only thing that comes close regarding my problem.
Due to my limited soldering-skills, this seems hard. And ill probably do more damage than good if i try fixing it.

is it possible to add an extra transistor on top of the other one (directly or by using wires) or do i have to remove it?

or could the no power-problem be caused by something else?

Thanks in advance

If you change the transistor you will have to remove the old one. If the old one has a leak or short accross one of its junctions then the fault will still be there soldering one in over the top.

have u checked the fuse? :rotfl:

no seriously have u tried another power supply yet , it maybe that, also just to satisfy my curiosity have u got your chip wired to be "always on" , e.g d0 strapped to ground , as this is rumoured to have dangerous effects on a v1.6

Have not tried another power supply. Would be strange, because it went from working -> non-working without me doing anything within the xbox. I didnt even unplug the powercord.  No sounds, electrical poofs or any bad sounds at all! Pretty weird.

d0 strapped to ground?  i've installed the Duox2 as seen on the diagrams. rebuildt LPC, and one wire from d0 to d0 point on chip, and one from BT  on chip to the eject-thingie.
Also, i heard that the DuoX2 is not affected by the to much current -issue because it pulses its signal?

ok , the d0 to ground thing dont apply to you then ;) good man :D , 1st thing i would do is check out the power supply , either get a known to be working one from a v1.6 , or use a multimeter to test the onboard fuse of the power supply . if its faulty , theres a guide here that may help .it could have been something as simple as a power surge that has blown your supply , im not saying this IS your problem , but its the easiest avenue to go down first m8
