How'd you manage to get yours working on your 1.6b?

I have a 1.6, so it's not a huge issue, but I wanted to flash the metoo version of m8plus_16 with live blocking, and all that got me was no audio/video...

In fact, any m8plus_16 flash did that... The solution: reflash any version of m8_16; they work fine... But still no live blocking sad.gif

Anyways, apparently newer batches of the "Aladdin Advance XT" chips will have new CLPD code and be 1.6b compatible...

I installed the chip in the "always on" config, as listed in Evil Ryu's nice tut.  I also had that d0 connection cut.

I used Evox with the SST A chip flash id added.  I've done my second 1.6b yesterday, and it also works 100%.

I believe there's a lot of shoddy Aladdin clones running around out there ( some with remarked chips ).  My chips are from a very recent batch, which might be the reason why I'm not seeing the same issues as some here.

If you are having trouble running your chip in a 1.6b, contact your chip dealer, and ask for a replacement.  It's not cool to sell second rate junk.

Firebaall, did you just try one Aladdin XT and it worked immediately? 100% boot up with Evox M8+_1.6 on the v1.6b, 20 times out of 20 times? It is even better if you can test at least 4 other Aladdin XT chips to confirm that there is no marginality issue.

BTW, are your new chips Aladdin XT 4032 or 4064? Can share where you got them from?

There doesnt seem to be 'rebranded' chips (sst chips). Its merely a badly coded CPLD. As has been somewhat confirmed by XenoChip (one of the many cloners of alladins) the XT has problems with the A ver of the sst.

The prob with the CPLD can be seen simply by the malformed MAN/DEV id that the chip is returning.

Appleguru said earlier that the 'Evox M8+_1.6' did flash properly. So as long as thats the flash u flash to ur mod, it should work.
Other have said thats the bios they tried when it flashed properly. So it would be good to get more feedback on that specific bios and the xt and 1.6 box.
