Xflash V3 For 020-a

Concerning XflashV3.

I'll forward this message to Green Giant but my testing of the SST 49LF020-A is complete. Basicly only 2 mod chips in the world use this chip, and my code is still under developemnt.

Clevermod (Sunday Chip)

flashing in EvOX works, 1.0 & 1.6
flashing in XflashV3 works 1.0
flashing in XflashV3 fail at ff00000077 everytime, resulted in bad chip.

Aladdin XT 4064  from eurasia

Flashing in Evox failed on the 1.6, reported winbond, would never proceed, chip was never altered. Was okay on the 1.0
Flashing in XflashV3 worked on 1.0 and 1.6

Results are quick tests, your results may vary.

Note both mods had trouble on the 1.6 in one program or the other, although by altering my code I can get it to work in XflashV3.

I just got a bunch of Aladdin XT Lite with SST 49LF020-A. The Xbox Bios Checker 4.0B reports the flash ID as "dab0". I couldn't use raincoat 0.7 to flash because of the "INVALID MANUFACTURER ID: 0x09" error. I managed to flash it in v1.1 using a modified evox flash disc. The evox flash tool also reports "dab0" as the flash ID.

I have also installed the new Aladdin XT in a couple of v1.6. I am hesitant to use the "unreliable" evox flash function in v1.6/v1.6b. Hope someone can tell or PM me where to download the XFLASH V3.

Well guys i had this problem a while back when i got the new XT's with the 20A SST chips but i sorted it easily by adding the line
Flash      = 0xbf52,"SST - 49LF020a",0x40000
to the evox .ini.....but ive just got a new batch of XT's and they still have the 20A chips but im getting the id 09 error now.beleive me ive flashed at least 20 XT's with the 20a chip in 1.6 crystal box's no problem untill this new batch.the only thing i can see that is differant on these new ones is ive noticed a little resistor soldered to the corner of the main pcb chip and i cant say ive ever noticed it on the other chips........Confused sad.gif

the new chips are recognized as a winbond chip...  not sure why, searching the forums will show you a few other threads with this mentioned.

add the list here to your evox.ini and one should work for ya, just dont remember which windbond one it was off the top of my head

otherguy, the posted link doesn't work for me.

My Aladdin XT Lite chips come with SST 49LF020A which gives flash ID of "dab0". I have to add the following lines to the evox.ini:

Flash = 0xbf61,"SST - 49LF020",0x40000
Flash = 0xbf52,"SST - 49LF020A",0x40000
Flash = 0xdab0,"SST - 49LF020A",0x40000

Hope the above info is useful for those who have the same type of chip as me.

Well I might be mistaken or something, and have to say that I am not very familiar  with the flash lines of evox (raincoat parameters).

But I think

Flash = 0xdab0,"Winbond W49V002A",0x40000

and

Flash = 0xdab0,"SST - 49LF020A",0x40000

are doing actually the same thing, so both should work.

The "Winbond W49V002A" part and the "SST - 49LF020A" is to me a mere discrition line and has nothing to to with Flash process.

Nothing more than a simple comment string added to the flash parameters that show which flashtype these parameters are used for.

0xdab0 is whats descripes the chiptype and 0x40000 is the starting adress or ending adress in hex of the chip.

Of course this all might be terribly wrong, and I might be a squirrel with only two nuts.

I don't think so. If you are right, raincoat 0.7 would have worked because raincoat associates "dab0" with "Winbond W49V002A" by default:

Flash = 0xdab0,"Winbond W49V002A",0x40000

When I tried to edit the raincoat.conf, it didn't work. I guess the parameters are hard coded into the raincoat executable, the raincoat.conf is just for info only. Any raincoat expert can comment?
