Can't Identify Aladdin Chip . . .
« on: November 14, 2004, 08:10:00 PM »

Ok... I have some pictures I'm wondering if anyone can identify if this is v1.6 compatible. I got it from a customer and he's totally clueless just like I'm. He has an Xbox v1.6 and I just want to make sure this is v1.6 compatible before I put it in. Thanks in advance.

Looks like an old aladdin advance chip, my best guess is it wont be fully functional on a 1.6 you might be able to get it working if you flsah evox m81_6 or M8+ to it in another box, and try to get it to work with always on mode by grounding the d0.

The Aladdin chip's works on v1.6, You just have to modify it a bit.

You DO need to flash it in another xbox first.

Ok. You can build a programmer, i don't remeber the link to the page with the guide, but maybe it's easier to just use another chip than aladdin.

I rather not . . . it's too time consuming and I don't have much time to play around with that. I already spent couple hours on this Xbox. He originally tried to mod it with a X3 by himself but somehow screwed up I guess. Because he got a blue screen after the mod. Just a blue screen, no words, no nothing, just a blue screen. Then he gave me the Xbox and I cleaned up his work but all I got was a black screen from the modchip. With the X3 disabled the Xbox still works fine. So I guess he fried the modchip because his soldering left huge long string of soldering leading down to the metal plate on the bottom of the Xbox casing. I guess all the connections grounded together and blew the modchip.

So another friend of mine had this Aladdin laying around so I thought I might use it but  I guess it is not compatible. Now I'm just waiting for him to get another modchip. Thanks to all for your help.

Its the old Aladdin 32. You have made the right choice getting another compatible chip. Save that for an older xbox.
