Need Help
« on: September 12, 2004, 10:07:00 AM »

I recently bought an Aladdin Advance v64. I went to go have someone install it, so I printed out almost all the diagrams I can find out there because that's all they give you.  The guy now refuses to install the chip because he says, "these diagrams have no instructions whatsoever and they dont explain anything." I need a tut on how to install an Aladdin Advance chip.  Please help me or my chip doesnt get installed.

if you are getting someone to install the chip for you thats fine but I would give it to someone else to do because if the guy cannot understand how to do the job when you gave him all the diagrams then he has no clue about fitting an LPC mod in an Xbox and is not the one to trust your mod to. depending on where you are located there are plenty of guys on here who are reliable and can be trusted to do the job correctly for you. the guy you picked can not.

Thank you for your reply.  I was not clear in my earlier post and I am sorry for it.  This guy, I've known for ten years, knows a lot about soldering and stuff like that so I trust him 100%, it's just that he wants better diagrams than the ones that www.llama.com(where I got the chip from) and aladdin-chip.com have to offer.  He wants actual instructions.  I trust him 100%, it's just that I need to meet his demands before he can meet mine.

There are some clear diagrams with all the solder points marked in red here http://www.aladdinlive.com/aladdin_live.htm

These diagrams are good for all the aladdin chips.
The easiest way is to solder a pinheader into the LPC socket where the points in the diagram are marked in red. A header socket is then soldered to the aladdin chip into the slot where the half moon shape connectors are. this will allow you to plug the chip onto the header pins. It plugs on with the chip marked SST49LF020 nearest the edge of the xbox mobo. Solder wires between the point s marked BT L1 and L2 on the Xbox motherboard (again in red an labellled on th diagram) to the identical marked points on the aladdin

You can follow the same diagrams for your version that site even shows the pinheader install.
If your friend can not follow that then he should not be doing the install
