I have read that you have to cut the D0 (Lframe) track to the xyclops chip to force the Xbox to look for another bios.
But the Ozxodus and Smartxxx install pics do not say to do this.
Do you know who is correct.

Well You can wire it up so when you hold the power button it boots the chip.....

The only thing is that you have to have a switch on LAD0 to make the original Bios boot.....

SO whats the point?

Sorry I am sure this is answered a few times in other forums, but i dont feel like looking through them all, is there anyway to Flash the M8_16 bios onto the Aladdin Advanced, without using another xbox?

anything i can hook up to my PC. or will the cromwell boot in 1.6 and i can use that to flash the chip?

I see no reason that an LPC flash device that works with any cheapmod wouldn't flash it.

On a side note, just wanted to chime in that this method works well for me as well. I used a DPDT switch (as DPST wasn't at radio shack), one to the d0/lframe (Dont know why this term is now synonymous ), other to LAD0, and bingo.

I should bring one thing to attention though. One of the LPC rebuild diagrams specifies to not make the wires too long for the rebuild. They're not kidding. The first time I hooked up the switch (mounted on the side right above the IDE cable on the mobo) had about 4" of extra slack in each wire, and it would NOT boot until I trimmed the wires down to have the bare minimum of slack.

This was doing a different type of "not booting" than I am used to. normall it will do a 3 time attempt to read the bios, and fail with red/green blinking on the 3rd. This time everything sounded like it was booting ok, but just no sound or video. Could help some folks.

i'm about to install a switch... but after reading your post i'm way confused.

Which are the lines that need a switch for orig bios/mod?

to boot orig bios
1)#lad0 mobo    <- X -> #lad0 chip   (opened switch)
2)#lframe mobo <- X -> #lframe chip (opened switch)

to boot M8 Bios
1)#lad0 mobo    <--> #lad0 chip
2)#lframe mobo <--> #lframe chip    or is it #lframe mobo <--> GND ???

argh!  uhh.gif
