I was just wondering if this chip had a direct boot of DVD-R, withouth having to do all that eject trick shit.
-Thanks

wtf?
no chip or bios ever had any "eject crap" with DVD-R.. the chip itself doesn't matter anyways, but the bios does, and every single bios since the very first ones always directly booted everything.

please read the tutorials section if you want the flamming to stop. Because N00b questions belong in the N00b thread.

its a valid question - the Alladin advance has three modes of operation:

Chip OFF (for Xbox Live) Turn your Xbox on like you usually do it
Chip ON (Flash OFF)  Keep pressing on Power button for 1 sec and +
Chip ON (Flash ON)   Keep pressing on Power button for 4 sec and +

So to use your flashed bios it likes you need to hold Power in for at least 4 seconds ...

Seems pretty whack to me? Would be good if you can hook it up to just boot the flash whatever, and switch the d0 to turn the chip on or off - don't know how to do it but I've just got one too and it would suck if you have to hold the power in for 4+ seconds each time ...

then again - a way round this I guess would be to flash your TSOP with your bios of choice - then flash an original bios into your Alladin - that way it wwould boot the custom bios as default and then only use the Original BIOS (to play live etc.) when you hold the button in for 4+ seconds...

that sounds more whack to me. You only need to hold it 4 seconds if you plan on flashing.

Yea, and why you MUST solder the BT wire, why not just wire the d0 to a switch and the siwtch to ground or aladin adv. And for the write protect, just wire the A5(pin 7) and A4(pin 8) together to a switch, and the other end of the switch to VDD(pin 32). Note that those pinouts apply only to the PLCC version of the flashrom.

every xbox is different. you should try DVD-R it seems to be the brand I have used most succesfuly in almost any/every xbox I have tried them on. Sometimes putting an audio disc in the drive and playing a track or two helps a disc to be read.

Does anything boot?  It could be you need to resolder.  If you have a valid problem start your own thread.  You will get more responses that way.
