Ive sent this PM to a couple of people so im just gonna post it so everyone can see...
***

Ive installed 2 Aladdin chips, one on a 1.0 and one on a 1.3.

When I first did it...i made a huge mistake thinking ALL I had to solder was L2, L1, BT and D0. That isn't the case. You have to connect the 8 semi-circles pads to the 8 pads to the bottom of the C7D1 resistor shown on this page:

http://www.modchipst...s.php?pageid=66

If you've don'e that already...you were one step ahead of me at that point. On the Aladdin chip...the two solderable semi-circles at the bottom of the chip (the 2 above to the D0 connector) need to be aligned with the bottom two pads of the xbox (to the left of C7D3) and the rest of the solderable semi circles will line up with the apropriate pad. I would recommend dropping solder onto the Xbox's pad so that the chip is resting on the solder and then connect them with more solder. It's alot harder when the chip is flush with the xbox board.

Download this PDF and look at the pic at the top right, you can see how the chip is supposed to be aligned with the board indicated by the red dots on each pad.

http://www.gocybersh...lladinv1_v2.pdf

PLEASE NOTE: You DO NOT have to do the following 2 soldering points for 1.3, it's for 1.5 only:

Look at the picture in the first link i posted that says "Xbox 1.5 LPC Bus Fix for GND and 3.3V". If you have 1.0 through 1.4(?) do not connect those two. I did and my Xbox freaked out, the moment i disconnect them...it worked great.

To know if the chip functions, the eject light should flash differnent colors (Hold the power button down for about 2 seconds when turning it on, if you tap the power button quickly, it wil remain solding green indicating you've decided to stwich off the chip, hold the power button down for 2 seconds to turn it on).

Look at this link too:

http://www.modchipsb...tall-V12-15.gif

Do not connect the 2 points where it says "For motherboard 1.5" if you dont have a 1.5 board...I cant stress that enough.

Thats how I did it...If you are confused with anything else...lemme know. Feel free to PM me.

Great post Earthlord.  That really helped me out alot.  I wonder why aladdin's website doesn't have the part about the 8 modchip/mobo bridges?  Anyways, instead of connecting them with solder, I decided to play it safe and use 8 short wire lengths.  The only hard part of the install was D0 solder point because it was so small.  I should have used 30ga wire but 24ga was all I had.  Everything worked out alright though.  Thanks!

I installed the Aladdin chip on 1.5 board. Power on button for 1 second, the eject light does flash red, orange or whatever, but get this: It boots to ms dash, saying it cannot read the disc inserted (that beeing evox boot disc) (Trust me the disc works)

I figures it means D0 is ok, BT and L1 is ok, and L2 as well, has to be the onboard soldering (I did follow the instructions on Ground and 3.3v for 1.5 boards)

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

I was helping a friend installing a Alladin Adv. v64 erlier today. Started with connecting D0 at the back of the motherboard. Then I solderd BT and L1 and L2. Then with my homemade pogo-pins I solderd the 8 point to the LPC.

After reconnecting everything else i tried the powerbutton, nothing happens. When i push eject the xbox boots as usual. And I can still power-off with the powerbutton.

Any ideas on what might be wrong ?

BT, L1 and L2 is opptional according to : http://www.ankarah.c...12_13_14_15.jpg
So I tried disconnection them from the chip but i made no diffrence.

dry.gif  ok ditto for me
found out that the problem was with the eeprom  blink.gif
somehow the video setting was reset to unknown   dry.gif
apparently the customer used xbox media center / player to change the video mode and ended up messing up the eeprom.

Symptoms: console boots to X logo, resets constantly on that screen,
can play original games sometimes
can't boot to evox dash from disk or hard drive

Cause: video setting set to unknown

Fix: boot with a Signed version of evox on CD-RW
run video mode select and set video mode

if that fails check the files on the hard drive to make sure they are actually there still  blink.gif
