This is the flash address for evox

Flash      = 0xbfb7,"SST - 39SF040",0x80000

If you jumper either the H or L you can flash single 256k banks also
Or leave it as it is and use 1 x 512

isnt the 29-wire mod just a bios chip i can grab from one of my old mobos?
also is the 29-wire mode easier than just doing the lframe via on the nvidia chip so i can use my x2pro

1. Yes it Probably is..

2. The 29 wire is much easier and safer to solder Than the small Via on the Nvidia ..

3.Most of these guys need a 29 wire to recover the onboard TSOP from a bad flash which can't be done via a LPC based chip

4. what does the X2pro have to do with this?...
I agree it is a exellent chip and the easiest to install

ordered one this morning.. (want u to flash with evox M7 only, as u can see in comment)

when looking at the picture http://xraychips.com/Xray3.jpg i can see how to solder it..,

but can u give me some info how to flash tsop, as the guide in xbox-scene doesnt fit with this one (besides the 2 bridge-soldering places on the top of mb, i dont know what pin number on the chip to put swich and so on..) (should i install a switch/cut the wire to the no. 29 spot on mb?)

just checkin so i got it right: the flash, no flashing instructions in the upper left corner in the pic is for the this chip, not the tsop, right?

So with a 29 wire mod, you don't need the Lframe.  Correct?

That's right. It isn't an LPC mod so LFRAME is irrelavent.

Hey guys, I was wondering if you guys could answer a few questions i have and/or guide me in the right direction.  As you might of already know, i do not have alot of knowledge in xbox modding, but am looking for the possibly cheapest way to do things (as most people are) and that is why im here.  I have not cracked my xbox yet, but i am assuming that i have either a 1.4 or 1.5 xbox because of the manufacture date and the fact that i bought it a week ago.  Basically what i was looking for was a mod chip that i could have two bioses on (cromwell/evoxM7 or Xecuter4979 repack) and have a switch to disable the chip and also a switch to change between the two bioses. The xray seems like my best bet atm but i am so green on this subject that i dont know if i could accomplish this with the xray3.  I was considering going with a xbit or a xecuter 2.3 pro or lite before i saw the xray3 and the price of the xray3 is too good to pass up if i can indeed do this.
so a recap

i have a 1.4 or 1.5 xbox with a samsung dvd
im looking for
1) a modchip that can have two bioses
2) a external switch to switch between the two bioses
3) a external switch to kill the modchip to basically put the xbox back to normal state (in case i ever want to try xbox live)
4) to do a hd swap to a 80 gig seagate

well if this probably isnt the place to put this but i figured id put two posts into one.  I also have to figure out how to lock my harddrive.  Anyone that has any info from start(after the xbox is open) to finish and anyone that has done something similar and knows a better way of doing what im trying to accomplish, any direction would be greatly appriciated.
sorry about the long winded post
thanks

Yes the Xray will do what you want..But as you can see it isn't that easy to install

But if i where you i would spend the xtra money and get a Xecuter 2.2 or 2.3
Because they are very easy to install..and they work well

The choice is yours..

just installing a homebrew mod in my v1.5 box and am going by a tut but there is no hookup for pin 1 in the tut???
it shows a hookup for pin 1 for v1.0-1.4 but not for 1.5 is this a mistake?
it looks like the layout for that part is the same so if it doesnt work i will connect pin 1 to the place it should go if my board was 1.4
any1 run into this prob? or is pin 1 not needed for 1.5?

some ppl say that u should use EvoX M7 istead of X4979, coz the xboxes with winbond chips doesnt seem to like the X4979, dont know if this does matter when not running orginal TSOP chip (using homebrew, LPC), but 2of my xboxes went dead when using X4979 (those had the winbond chip), while other worked great (non winbond chips) using the same bios.

could be worth doin a try if u can flash the chips with M7
