"pin33"/ link to 32 connected to ground

I don't think "Pin 33" should be connected to ground. You should have a wire going from "Pin 33's" point on the Mobo to the pin 32 POINT on the Mobo. (Pin 32 is +5v)

29 Wires Mod On A V1.4 Xbox
« Reply #1 on: February 17, 2004, 04:57:00 AM »

here is my story...

i flashed a homebrew (am29f040) with a 512K EVOX M7. I did it with my old mobo 1.0. It flashed ok, and it was recognized ok by evox dash md5 checksums.

i had it as backup, just in case a tsop flash went wrong.

now i came across this PAL v1.5.
i installed the chip (as i only have a USA 007AUF).

now the xbox frags.
wiring is ok.
tried 3 different chips with no luck.

i did a lot of USA v1.5 with evox m7 & 007auf... but i'm stucked with this one.

any clue? should i try a homebrew with X2 4981 on it?

FYI, to flash/upgrade a homebrew with evox, as u guys want to do, u have to wire it in a slight different way.. there are 2 pins that change.
PIN 31 should go to #WE in mobo.(it is 5v for normal use)
PIN 24 should go to #OE in mobo (it is GND for normal use).
there is a tut on how to do so...
http://www.xbox-scen...ashhomebrew.php

BUT.. (notice the BIG BUT).. those diags are for 1.0/1.1 mobos...
so here is my problem (and it will be yours too)... there are no diagrams for WE and OE on newer 1.2+..
(those points are NOT the ones u bridge to write enable the tsop.)
unless u know where to wire pins 31 and 24 in new mobo, u wont be able to upgrade the Homebrew.

Yes, you can use a 29-wire mod on a 1.4/1.5.  It would require you to use EvoX M7 or X2 4979 as the BIOS on the mod.  The changes in the 1.5 (no power or ground in the LPC points) wouldn't affect a 29-wire mod because they use other power and ground points.

Don't you have to connect the Lframe?

no.  That's only for the LPC mods
