My technique involves careful exposure of just the via always moving my pick that is doing the scraping of the conformal coating/solder mask in the same direction the traces run so I can't gouge through a trace. I work under 8x magnification.  I leave everything I can covered because solder wont stick to the green solder mask and I can use a large puddle on solder on my iron's tip when I tin the via and the flux never hurts. I then strip and tin 30awg kynar and curve the tip down, normally kynar is silver plated and I don't tin it but because the via never holds much solder you need a good tin job to get it to flow. Then I hot glue the wire down exactly over the via and solder it and all this just takes an extra minute or 2. When I solder it I can see the connection flow and I then test it after it cools a bit and it's already glued down but I add a bunch more glue and use good hot glue. I never hot glue over  the connection to leave the joint servicable, and you don't have to, glueing a 1/2 inch or so away holds it very firmly.

Hi guys..today my friend has find the LFRAME on the NVIDA X3 chip..it's a very very very very small "via"

In this photo you can view the installation and it's only for pro and more pro-installer!!!

user posted image
XS Hosted Pic so Andry's doesn't get wiped out by hits.

There is a small piece of copper wire that start from the pinheader of N° 3 and go to the LFRAME on the nvidia chip..in this way he has replace the way that M$ had broken..

Of corse after the d0 must be put in gnd  cool.gif  for activate the lpc mod

In this way we can utilize the classics LPC even with the 1.3+...

i'm sorry if anyone had discover it before...i don't know  beerchug.gif

I say that my goal isn't go versus 1.3 modchip like as x2,xbit,aladdin,akira....first because i'm an installer and i put them..ehehee biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif
and second because this is only a tutorial for demonstrate that LFRAME is still with us but a little bit hidden  jester.gif
thank to team akira and aladdin..your modchip are very cheap and wonderful

i can't really see in the photo where that pin is going... and it doesn't make a lot of sense as the mcpx is a BGA part where all the contacts are on the bottom.  can anyone confirm this?

yes...the mcpx has the all pin under itself...but if you look whit attention the photo you can see (even in the reality) that the mcpx has many little "via"...

the LFRAME is an internal "via"...

if you look the left side of mcpx you'll notice that there are 2 couple of "via"...the LFRAME is on the right "column" (if we see the mcpx in this photo and after immagining to divide the left side of mcpx in two colums of via)...near top part of mcpx

However..like i said..this is only for pro installer and i prefer an akira or aladdin..because is more fast..

this pic is only for demonstrate that the LFRAME still exists...only the way to LPC bus is disconnected!!

ps, this does require a soldering god, if you cant solder a v3 ps2 without trouble, then dont try this at home.
