how far away is the base to the bridge? if far enough (near 100ft) it may very well be only getting 90k.

If you have any extra wires try swapping them out.  I had very very slow FTP speeds at one point.  Turned out that one of my wires was getting some interference (accidentally stapled through the wire).  After I switched the wire my speeds wend up to 1500 - 2000 kbps.

is it normal for download from the X-Box to be a LOT faster than uploading, or do I have a setting wrong somewhere.

I can download around 2mbyte/sec, but I can only upload at about 100kbyte/sec

A few things could be slowing down your network...
a) interference - Wireless operates at 2.4GHz which is a nice band to go thru walls and other hard surfaces, this is exactly why some portable phones use it. (See the problem?) There was a problem with 900MHz CPUs and 900MHz phones (Although I never personally experienced such, so I can't vouch for that one, just a thought) could be the same if your PC is running at 2.4GHz
cool.gif Too many devices on the network - If your using wireless do realize that if your using 802.11b your only going 11mbit in the best conditions, this translates to 1.375Mbytes/sec (give or take) less network overhead and attenuation, SPLIT among all your wireless devices. (54mbits if your using Wireless G)
c) Your PC's TCP/IP stack is screwed
d) Your PC's TCP/IP stack isn't optomized for ethernet (MTU/MSS/RWIN etc)

There could be more, but I'm kinda tired at the moment.

Is your NIC card Duplex confige set to 100 Half or 100 Full? if its set to Full, thats your problem..you wont to set it to 100 Half... you only want to have 100 Full, if your connect PC <---crossover--> XBOX... i had that problem.. i had a crossover set up at first.. then got a 100 megabit repeater.. i was messing with it for like 25mins.. took me while to figure it out.. i felt dumb. hehe.

Have you run a long cable to the xbox and tested your transfer speeds with that?

I would suggest what Scottilde recommended.  That is to get a longer CAT 5 cable and connect your XBOX directly to your Wireless Router.  That is assuming you have a wireless router with a built in 100mbit multi port switch.

Your XBOX has a built in 100mbit NIC whilst you also say that your PC has a 100mbit NIC - that would be the ideal boost.

Even if you have a 54G wireless router - going the wireless route - you will theoretically max at 54mbit.

Also, when dealing with thousands of files to transfer between units, disable antivirus temporarily while doing this - this will save a good deal of total transfer times since each file is scanned before copied over.

As for Buzz, if you have both a wireless device and a 100mbit NIC on your PC, and assuming that your running WinXP - disable the wireless while doing the FTP so as to force it to use the 100mbit NIC.
