well since I broke my xbox im thinking on getting a new xbox swithing the inside and return it . I already practice on my broken xbox how to remove the stickers from the back

lol... poor you. that would suck. Personally, i'd recommend taking it back to places that don't care about video games. Places like Kmart, Walmart etc.
Places like EB and Gamestop would know to check for tampering for sure

See, my xbox was scratched up.. and the stickers on the bottom had holes in them, i had fried it during a horrible soldering accident..

I went to KMart, bought a new xbox .. that night, i peeled off the stickers on the bottom *rubbing alchohal*, took it apart, swaped the top of the case with mine (only the top was scratched ...), put it back together .. put the stickers back on... took it back the next day for a full refund, so i had a new xbox =/

). And, BTW, it IS theft, but I prefer to call it the switcharoo.

A few years ago I had an RCA TV that stopped working. My wife had won it in a contest and at the time we were poor so we had no money for a new one nor a repair. One day I was in Wal-Mart and noticed that they had the same model <evil grin>. So I started thinking about it and bought it - cash. When I got home I simply switched the back panels (where the serial number was located) on the TVs - only 4 screws. I then returned the old TV with the new back panel and original receipt on the following week. They usually do not ask for ID when you have a receipt so I got away with no hassle. This works for a number of electronics, not just Xboxes.

Xboxes do present a special challenge with all the labeling, but nothing a little hairdryer action won't cure, at least on all but the newest models.

Does anyone have any experience removing/replacing the new style checker board type security labels (on late v1.2 and v1.3 boxes)? How did it go?

I think it is a great idea. Think about it. These corporations put all the other business out because of their power. *cough*M$*cough* I mean if you look at Bill Gates, how did he get to the point he is now? He stole. I rest my case. I say fuck you to m$ and ill pull a switcheroo if I ever mess up my xbox and not even think about it twice about. So in my eyes m$ deserves to be stole from. If I ever mess up Ill just repay the favor to good ole Bill Gates.

I haved a fried gamecube I tried to return to best-buy with no luck. I geuss I should try walmart... I gonna buy another xbox there tommorrow.

Well just to update this thread one last time....
My thesis paper received a 98%(second best in all my professor's classes combined). He quoted a few things from the "The pirates of silicon valley" movie, showing interest in the basis and conclusion of my paper. Basically this was my own small time warfare, not very unlike the lying and cheating of steve jobs and bill gates. I mean cmon xerox could be M$ right now had it not been for jobs, then gates had the means of returning the favor. In essence my paper pondered whether what I was doing was actually wrong(morally I know it was), but if I was a corporation doing these thing with high priced lawyers to back me, would I in fact be in the wrong, or would the loop holes the corporate world are so accustomed to protect me and my felonies against "The Man". Well I'm not going to summarize a 17 page thesis paper for you but, I feel I was correct in my thesis that morally yes it is wrong but, in today's buisness world it was just buisness as usual.

One final thing. I am suprised some of you have told the mods to take this message down. There is actual a good moral question, underlying in all of this thread's posts. In posting this I have kind of opened a question in alot of peoples minds, whether to believe this is corrupt and wrong, or do you have feel as I do about today's buisness principles and ideals? After reading this post the first answer that comes to your head is the way you feel about it, but with more thinking and reading of the posts have you started to have mixed emotions of what is right or wrong here? Well I'm done ranting, just thought I'd give my final thinkings of the subject.
