Can MS track down where the Xbox originally sold from using something else other than the serial number that's at the bottom of the Xbox?
I thought about swapping it, but realize Intel CPU has a serial number of it's own, the MAC address is unique, DVD-ROM drive has it's own serial number, hard drive has its own serial number program into the ROM/flash, etc....
So technically, if you want MS to have a hard time locating where the Xbox was orginally sold and sold to, you would need to swap out the CPU, wipe off the MAC address, swap hard drive, swap DVD-Rom drive, etc... because any serial numbers that gets return in the defective Xbox will be match with their database and the serial numbers can be trace back to which Xbox originally had that serial number. This is assuming MS keeps a good record of all of these.
BTW, after MS realize the motherboard has been swapped, do they come after those who swapped the motherboard/Xbox? I'm sure they have their own security team, but coming after every individual doing this would cost more than just finding a way to prevent it.
