Just a FYI to anyone looking for a v1.2:

Thanks to the X-S forums, and reading all the posts about the Halo+Amped Adrenaline Pack usually being a v1.1/v1.2 and Samsung --

Went out today to two ghetto Walmarts where I figured they'd have some Nov/Dec boxes still -- and low and behold -- two of those Adrenaline Packs!

Wasn't sure if they would be v1.1's or v1.2's, so I popped 'em open when I got home just now, and sure as sure -- both are v1.2's with Samsung DVD, and the Seagate 20GB HDD! Includes one S-Controller, mobo has the two heatsinks, ATX connector and the v1.2 Winbond chip

Manufacturing dates are 2002-12-19 and 2002-12-17

Dude, you DO NOT have a 20GB drive.

You have 20 million LBA Sectors, making it a 10GB drive.

Please pay attention to the label (that goes to ALL people who are reading this and are contemplating an Xbox purchase)

There has NEVER been a confirmed 20GB drive in any Xboxes (early reports were either confirmed as 10GB or remained unconfirmed.)

Anyway, congrats on getting the "Me wink.gif dia Whore" Samsung DVD drives

Gonna add my 2 new 'box's info here.  Picked them up on sunday, the 30th.

Man. Date of 2002-12-03

k; 4817
d; 4920

Man. Date of 2002-12-05

k; 4817
d; 4920

Ripped them both apart and compared it to my old 1.0

damn near identical, except some updated components.

Looks to me like anything before 12-15 is v1.1, and after is v1.2

FYI, both HD's on the new 1.1's are WD Protege's.... same as in my old 1.0

DVD in both new 1.1's are Samsungs, old 1.0 is a Thomson

I'm interested in the same thing, SPE411

So what's the deal with upgrading the hard drive on a 1.2 XBOX?
Is it possible?
Does anything special need to be done?
Is it the same process as the other versions?

People have had to have tried this by now.
What kind of results are you all getting?
Please let us know...

Hi guys,

I've been reading this forum for a so long time now and i think that it's time for me to buy my box!!! I looking toward the Adrenaline kit because of Halo and his Samgung "read cdr" DVD drive. But there is something that is bugging me: version 1.2! Could I have some straight (YES/NO) answer to the following question:

Is it possible to install X2Pro on a xbox v1.2 and then play LIVE when chip disable and change the HDD?

Thanks

Sympa

:::sigh:::

It's probably buried, and it's clear you HAVE been reading things, so I'll answer it this time.

Any drive you install will have to be locked to disable the modchip.

Lock the drive, leave the original xboxdash.xbe intact, and disable the modchip, and XBL should work fine.

Have anyone mangaged to TSOP-flash the v1.2?

What about the backside layout? Is it the same?

I'm wondering if a normal 29-wire hombrew would do the trick to flash the TSOP...

I have successfully flashed the TSOP on a 1.2, using the 007 hacked savegame - Thanks to numbnut for rewriting raincoat a couple of times....
The layout is also different on the bottom.  I'm trying to find a high quality pic of the backside so I can mark the points that need to be bridged in order to enable flashing.  If anyone can help, please let me know.  (My digital camera is out of commission..)
