Old School Mod...
« on: February 18, 2003, 10:50:00 PM »

Does nobody use there own skills and mod their xbox themselves anymore? I'm 15 years old and I soldered to everyone of those bastard points on the bottom of my XBOX mobo and used my comp's bios chip to boot it, flashed the TSOP ( I know everyone says don't flash the TSOP but why should it matter? it's safer then having wires running in your xbox 24/7 leaving a chip in there, and if the chip fries out then just jack it with your comps bios chip again) but anyways im tired of people using these 50$ pogo pin modchips and using the LPC bus to boot it, wheres the fun in that? wheres the fun in that? wheres the risk of you lifting a trace and frying your xbox? people should take the time and do it thereselves, and if you dont know how to solder you shouldn't opening your xbox for any reason in the first place.

Total cost of MOD:
2 hours of my time soldering 32 wires to tiny points
2.50$ for DIP32 socket
3$ for 30AWG wire
The fact that you know you did it yourself and didn't give in to corporate whores like executor

5.50$

the two priceless things cancel each other out

Sorry if I pissed anyone off I had to get that off my head

agreed

but imo when install an older generation mod when we have the generation 3b now - very easy to install, it doesnt have to be hard to install to make it worthwhile

no needed to do 32pins anymore. thank GOD for cheap mod, and

i hook my fiends up by modding their xbox's.  i would do it your way for myself, but it is too much trouble and too risky with other people's stuff.

how do you get onto XBL?  you don't, do you.

Because I want to play games on it, not learn how to fry an Xbox... I mean, if you do it for the fun, yes, you should do it yourself. If you do it for any other reason, consider what is better, do it yourself (go to loads of trouble learning how to do it) or spend 50 quid and do it in 5 minutes. I for one will gladly pay the 50 quid....

Yeah just because im not a soldering genius I shouldnt get to mod my xbox?  Suddenly you are the rules master?  Well guess what, my chip is soldered on the lpc port its not 30 wires.... but then again its not pogo pins either so I guess I fit in the middle somewhere.... wheres all the fun you ask? All the fun is I can play games off my hd, I can put movies on it that I normally would have to watch on my comp and I can now watch on my tv.... thats my fun...

i do agree with you. if your like me and like to solder 30 wires or i wouldnt even mind doing more (neo 4) with 44 wires. well anyway i cant stand the no solder junk they make now. even though its supposed to be alot quicker and stuff i like the idea of having a nice solid connection and no worry about alignment or it comming off. not saying that it will but the risk is there.

i've done the pogo thing, and i've soldered... honestly i've never had a pogo chip come loose/misaligned, but in terms of the funness factor, I felt a lot more proud of myself getting a sodlered chip working, compared to a pogo one. I installed my matrix... and it just kinda like "wow that's it" =(

Hmmm...sounds like a job for the pros! :o  Soldering has always been "fun" to me! I remember using dads Radio Shack solder gun, boy that was fun soldering as many things together as I could! :D  But Undressing a console is more fun. I like the degree of difficulty, and I also like to save $$$  :P  I recommend that Xecuter2 lite w/o the pogo OR pins to the CONFIDENT, EXP. SOLDERER!, Messing up is easy but installing most mods is a piece of cake!! ;)

I instaled my own frickin 29 wire enigmah x and i now have a matrix so dont blow off that everyone who has pogos cannot solder the only reason i got my matrix is cos i needed new hd and did not want to go through the time consuming phase f soldering agin like 3 hours foe enigmah so i went with pogos! so dont allways judge people!
