Total N00b: How To Get Started?

Well, save yourself some hassle and get a pre-chipped model.

As for games, find Evo-X on IRC or Usenet. It's small, and you can burn the ISO to CD-RW or DVD-RW. Just follow the tutorials on the main site and you should have no problems setting it up.

I wouldn't worry about flashing your BIOS. That's only really needed to eliminate the mod chip - why bother if you don't want to open the box up ever again?

6>you can network your box to the pc, and copy your original games from the dvd drive in the xbox to the pc, then copy it from the pc onto the biggun HD you installed. smile.gif

Hope that helps...

Hey whatever u do, try to find one that is premodded and has the EVOX 2.2 BIOS, remember that, it will save u a lot of time when u update ur hdd, go to http://www.backup-source.com/evox/, thats the home of Evolution X, they mane a program for the xbox which lets u ftp to your xbox and get aout of it whatever u want ( rip games etc ) if you do not own a dvd burner ur better off going to pricewatch.com and spend 80 bucks on a 82.3gb 7200rpm ibm 8.5 you know what. U read the guides in that  site first of all, and dont be confused, the EVOX bios is a bios that can be installed in ur onboard chip (yes after u have done that u wont need a chip) but thats too shit  for u, the reason why having that bios is so important is because it lets u have a hdd bigger than 8gb (up to about 130gb), also, the chips that have it are XIOS ,and  , Xecuter, they both have that thing that let u have a bigger hdd. I havent seen a premodded xios system or xecuter system, but for xecuter just wait, they'll start making them, u can 1. get xecuter and install it urself (easy) 2. Get xios and get a friend to install it (harder) 3. Get a enigmah or Xtender and go to http://www.xbox-scen...ticles/tsop.php to flash ur Onboard bios with EVOX 2.2 BIOS (since enigmah and executer dont have that feature) 4. Or u can get a premodded with xecuter or xios. Remember those are the options if U WANT to install a new HDD, which really is the best cuz u dont need a dvd burner, u can just rip games to your xbox, NO loading times, AND when double layer games come out pepople wont be able to burn them in dvd, (twice the sice) and u will be able to install them in HDD. U can also if u wanna spend some more get a 120gb hdd (will hold about 50-60 full dvd games in average), dont get a 160gb (ur xbox wont be using 30gb). Hope that helps.

OK - Cool.

So, if I get an xbox, with mod chip with xtender 2.2 bios, bigger HD, and evox program then I will be able to copy retail games from the x-box to my PC, then back to the xbox HD, where I can play them with no discs at all, and store 50+ games at once.

Is that right? If so, then I think I know exactly what I need... ;-)

Thanks!

Hey -

I saw the article on the TSOP thing - but if this site is selling the enigmah modded box with a dual bios switch plus a 120GB HD, then I assume the enigmah has to allow the HD increase, maybe with the second bios?
