I just finished my Homebrew Mod yesterday and wanted to answer some common questions MANY of you seem to ask.
1) Q: When I split my file and do a FC 1.bin 2.bin it shows a difference.
A: I don't know why, it happens to me also. But if I do a SFV check on the files, they generate the same CRC. So do a CRC check of the files and they should all return the same CRC. At least this is the case for the Evolution 2.2 BIOS.
2) Q: When I try to flash my 29F0x0 part the status bar flies across and reports failed verify, what is the problem?
A: Uniflash isn't compatible with your motherboard, just because your chipset is listed doesn't mean it will work. It is also possible that your flash part isn't compatible with your MB or the flash part is write protected.
3) Q: When I try flashing the 29F0x0 part, Uniflash reports that I have a mismatched bootblock, what is the boot block and how do I fix.
A: The boot block is a allocated segment of the flash part, in the very beginning. Some systems use this for the bootup process. You can ignore this error for the XBox, it doesn't matter.
4) Q: Should I flash from advanced mode and overwrite the bootblock.
A: In short, look at question number three. But you can if you like, but it won't make a difference.
5) Q: Uniflash always fails with my motherboard. People keep saying to try uning AWDFlash.exe, but this also fails.
A: AWDFlash checks to make sure you are trying the flash a AWD BIOS. It is probably pretty simple to run SoftIce and remove the check, but it is easier to just use another motherboard. So the final answer, don't bother trying to use AWDFlash.
6) Q: Uniflash reports success, after soldering in the chip my XBox still goes to flashing Green/Red.
A1: First, solder in a socket. I couldn't find a 32pin socket so used a 40Pin socket and clip'ed off the pins.
A2: Desolder all the wires going to point 32 on the MB and verify your XBox still functions. If not then you have a short.
7) Q: How do I find a short?
A: Use a multimeter, set it to do a continuity check and turn on the sound then start testing.

Q: But there are so many wires, where do I start?
A: This is the easiest way. On the socket start by testing pins 2 and 3, then 2 and 4, then 2 and 5, and so forth until you hit every combination on the socket. If you get a combination that beeps OTHER than from points 16 and 32 then you have a short. Remember, point 16, 22, and 24 are all wired together soldered together.
9) Q: I still can't find a short, now what?
A: Make sure all the wires are soldered tight on the MB, see if they look clean. But more importantly, MAKE SURE YOU SOLDERED THEM ON THE RIGHT PADS!! If you mis-solder even one wire you will the the Green/Red flashing on the XBox.
