OK, heres what I've found so far !

The Xbox connects to the M$ Servers on ports;

3074 / UDP
3074 / TCP
88 / UDP (Kerberos 5)

The Xbox dashboard uses standard DNS lookup via a nameserver, for the IP address of where ever its looking.
Then authenticates via KRB5 protocol on port 88.

For example
1. [Xbox] to [NameServer] [DNS] [query AS.XBOXLIVE.COM]
2. [Xbox] from [NameServer] [DNS] [AS.XBOXLIVE.COM is 207.46.247.6]

At this point the Xbox knows that it should be talking to 207.46.247.6 to connect to the server.

3. [Xbox] to [207.46.247.6] [KRB5] [sends data inc. Dashboard version, Serial number]
4. [Xbox] from [207.46.247.6] [KRB5] [recieves serial number and other information back as confirmation]

Its interesting to note that your Xbox client name during these handshakes IS YOUR unique serial number stored in eprom and is the same number as on the sticker on the bottom of the case.

Request/Client Name = "[email protected]" where 205516223299 is MY personal Xbox serial number.

so, in reflection.....

How did you get all the info? IP etc. How do you know what the xbox is doing?
Please tell me, I find this an interesting project!
I know how to get it if you know the begin i think, it's like: connecting xbox to your custom made server, see what it says, say this to MS server, see what it replys, say this to xbox etc etc.
But how did you get the beginning IP's and ports? Just started with faking the DNS? that's kinda smart! But how do you know the ports then?

I don't think it would be to tough with a standard packet sniffer to see what your xbox is doing. Watching network traffic isn't exactly a new concept. I think you are doing a kick ass job azzi and I'm glad you took all that bs and turned it into something constructive! WTG

Hey Every1 I read this wen it was first posted. I figured this was a hoax or azzi is taking his time. I have started writing my own app, in VB. I kno c++ but it is for long term projects and not RAD Programs. I have gotten to the stage where my Computer passes through DNS data, and I'm up to the stage of forging it. I'm going pretty well so far. I have emailed azzi for some help. If you can help me please email me or preferably add me on msn at [email protected]. I don't need any help with bandwidth or xboxs but I might need them in the future.

Good thing you're already married, cause if this ends up working well you may get marriage proposals of the nerdiest variety.  biggrin.gif

I think right now it's working by redirecting packets with a router or something but i'm not sure.

I'm more leaning toward this for use by small groups of people. I don't think it would ever really be an alternative to live it would cost too much and be full of cheaters.

Well, if you want to run a server you can go ahead and run one, so yeah, if you want to run a server it would be running on a pc. And if you want to connect you would redirect (on your router) traffic destined for the real xbox live to whoever is running the fake xbox live you're trying to connect to.
