i know some people did it with a long wire..but if you want to be safe and get it on the firest try...make the wire short...the 27cxxx series are a bitch to install..it took me 6 tries to got it rite and ..this is after i looked around and find out that i need to make the wire shout...so to make a long story short....MAKE UR CONNECTION WIRE SHORT AND DOUBLE THE WIRE ON THE POWER SOURCE(pin32 on chip) TO SPOT 32 ON MOTHER BOARD...trust me....it will pay off.... and triple check all the connection to make sure they are all good .... and IT"S OK to put the chip under the DVD rom ..there are more then enough room to fit one chip...

ps:if you use a socket....you for sure need good power supply....don't be lazy and take ur time when you install the home made chip... good luck..
