Connectivity Problems
« on: September 18, 2003, 09:14:00 AM »

Here's the problem:

I get good connection speeds to the Xbox via FTP
My speeds from the xbox are around 4k (yes k)
Everything used to work fine. I've had this Xbox for over a year with no problem.
Checked my Cat5 cable, it's good. Crimped a Cat6 cable, tested in with a $500.00 network tester I have at work, I know it's good. Used it, same thing. Switched PCs that I was trying to transfer to, same thing. I  have no clue what this could be? any Ideas?

If you're going to the F: drive, it's IS particularily slower...not THAT slow though, but usually 4 to 5 times slower than the C: and E: drive....

You don't understand. 4k! AOL connects faster than that. I do know what I am doing and wouldn't ask the question if I wasn't stumped.

Change your xbox's gateway to your router's I.P. address.

I have no router. Just a crossover cable to the abox from my PC. The gateway is already the PC's private IP.

Any luck on trying to fix this problem??????????????????. I use to be able to get great speeds but one day it will not connect any faster than a crawl. I have tried different ftp clients cables etc etc..

I have changed nothing so there is no reason that it should have slowed down. I have 5 gig left on my F drive......

Just to clarify a few things... I have tried several PC's, Several cables, several versions of Evox ...   I have  booted from cd's I have connected direct and through hubs...

I have tried to use an XBOX ftp client...  I have tried connecting to different drives on the xbox, and I have tried emptying the HDD... nothing.. zip... nil... nada...

Nothing I tried has increased my speed past that of a 56k modem.    I use to get 8000k/sec to 10000k/sec... I know get 30k/sec

Is it a hardware problem... can I fix it somehow or is my Xbox NIC stuffed

Could it be the connection in my NIC itself.. it a pin is not connecting properly to the cable .. would that slow it down or shut down a connection totally???????????
