bluemnky...I had a board that wouldn't detect the flash (athlon 700...VIA chipset) and I switched boards (PII 333 Intel chipset) and it worked.

If I downloaded a presplit image of the cracked bios do I still need a hex editor to split the file?  I think I answered my own question, but I just want to be sure to eliminate probs once I open my xbox.

No....if it's split you don't need to split it.  Also, I have just tested the Macrovision and IT IS DISABLED with Xtender's 1.1 release!  biggrin.gif

cool deal 4nic8tor.....I will hopefully get to work on an old compaq soon....

but that's a lot harder.  I would suggest using a DIP style chip instead.  I tried to post a picture but IMG code is off and so is HTML....how in the hell did you manage to post that image?

Upon Further inspection I found out that it is a Winbond 29c020-90.  Again I still have yet to figure out what size it is....2mb,8mb and so on.  I have the prespilt version of the xtender 1.1 bios.  O well, I am off to do some more research.  Any info would be appreciated!

Can a 29c020-90 be programmed using a PC Motherboard?

Yes it can.  I am about to do it now.  I have one final question.  How can I tell beforehand if my chip has the Boot Block Protection enabled?  I know that UNIFALSH can flash the chip, but it can't if the boot block protection is enabled.
