just bought new IDE cable for xbox. tried booting and still error 7

sounds like my xbox is really dead.  

i dont see any other reasons why im still getting that error. i mean if i boot with no hdd in shouldnt i atleast get error 8 hdd not found?  

dont understand why it just boots into the error screen. bah this is drivin me nuts.
