I think it's probably just a connection issue.  I used to have to unplug/replug all my ide connections to get things working.  You also might check the jumper settings on the drive and play with it, even if you didn't change it since it last was working.  Try master instead of cable select, or vice versa.

im hoping this a fixable problem seeing as the xbox will boot up showing the "XBOX" screen.  green with mod off and of course blue with it on.

I was getting error 7 on a HD that didn't have the Cable Select Jumper set properly.... It's worth checking!

where did slayers come from? still narrowing down the possibilities but lookin at the eeprom now.

i didnt  finish the whole unlocking process in configmagic.  after unlocking the drive i should have re entered the hdd serial and back up the eeprom.  but i didnt so thats where im at

Do u have a jumper on your 120 gig say limit to XXgigs? (i am not sure if its always limit to 32 but thats what it was on my 80 gig) Try that setting instead of Master,Slave,or cable select, i cant explain how this happened but thats the only way the xbox recognizes my HDD now, and what is even weirder is that it doesnt limit it to 32 gigs.... very strange indeed, if i have it on nay other setting i get error 8, maybe we have both done something weird with configmagic??? wink.gif

vmehta211:  i see the xbox logo screen when booting, animation when going into ms dash. then stuck on the error page.  cant boot from dvd drive either.  but i do hear the dvd drive fire up.

i figured if the bios was loading i would be able to boot from the dvd drive.

i wish it was that simple jasonkid, lol.  i cant boot any media from the dvd drive, or atlest not at the moment.

when i boot with mod on : i get to my blue "XBOX" logo screen and then followed by the the superfro error screen with error 7. *note the "Xcuter2" title never appears under XBOX logo.

when i boot to ms dash, mod off : animation flubber thing, followed by the green "XBOX" logo screen, then again the error screen with error 7 as well.  *note MS" title never appears under the XBOX logo.

am i right in thinkin the bios is not loading correctly because i see neither xcuter2 or ms under the XBOX logo screen?

also does anyone know what initilizes the hdd? be it the bios or the eeprom?!

could there be anything else that could cause a hdd failure? something, anything? ha
i have tried the following to fix this prob. JUMPERS, CABLE, both HDD's, i have tried booting both into evox and configmagic, also tried flashing to a new bios all with no luck, because again i cant boot from the dvd drive.

ALSO i unhook both the dvd drive, hdd and cable.  when doing this shouldn't it return a dvd error intead of hdd error.  i mean hell a diff error code would be an improvement at this point. ha

thx for ya'll help so far!!  really appricate it, hopefully we get this thing workin!
