smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif EXCELLENTLY DONE MOD.

k. now that i got that out of the way..... i voted completely useless. the reason: to me... i dont' care about noise. i want my shit to last longer. regardless of whether or not a 60c temp is okay...i don't like the idea that my shit is 20c hotter than a athlon xp (they are notorious for being hot) and my 3.0 ghz p4 (40 c). my chipset fan died from heat. too hot.. too long. i replaced it with a small fan.. dont' know the dimensions..

it literally is noiseless. i can't hear it running a foot from my ear. so noise is taken care of. (i know that was the point of your mod).  i also just improved airflow by cutting holes in the bottom of the hdd tray like rhohan did in his post a while back.
i left my fan at stock %. it is quiet. quiter than my buddies 1.4. and it runs with that new fan and hole for ventilation at 53c average after playing halo for a bit. and it is no more loud than before. it just doens't make sense to me... v1.0s are going out. my buddy's did. keep your v1.0 in tact. and do some temp upgrades as well. but like i said in the biggining:
I GIVE PROPS!!!!!! smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif EXCELLENTLY DONE MOD.

51C = 123.8F       42C = 107

not too shabby!

EDIT: if you installed a 80mm fan it would be hella cool...

Thoes temps are horriable lol. I get 115 CPU and 90 MB after halo...

(IMG:http://www.medit.dk/jaxbox/hardware/Zalman-xbox-heatsink.jpg)
I got tired of my noisy Xbox, and discovered that the core of my problem was the v.1.0-Xbox-GPU-fan.. So I completely removed the fan+heatsink, and replaced it with a Zalman heatsink, which had the right size (so you're still able to place the DVDdrive above the GPU).
In "idle" mod i get the following temps:
CPU = 51 degrees celcius
MB = 42 degrees celcius

Perhaps I should test this mod with Halo for about 4 hours, before I ask you guys to cast your vote tongue.gif  Sorry about that!

yeah.. i was looking at that heatsink when i saw it at a store a while back as a possible replacement for my 1.0 gpu hs/f, good to know that it's working ok for you. I'll be putting on that heatsink, changing the thermal interface and adding an 80mm vantec stealth, that should keep things running cool and a whole lot quieter.

brahm heres a suggestion for your noise problem: switch up the connectors so your big fan gets high voltage and your small one gets low volatge.  i believe the big one doesnt make as much noise as the small one.  anyways you should split your big fan connection so you can get it for both fans.

As promised, the temp-readings from my Xbox after 5 straight hours of Halo-gaming cool.gif  (I must admit I'm rather pleased myself tongue.gif )

CPU = 63 degrees celcius / 145.4 degrees fahrenheit
MB = 47 degrees celcius / 116.6 degrees fahrenheit
