So there's a way to upgrade the RAM, I though you couldn't do it.  Anyway, is there a tutorial on it?

mhr it's pointless...no game swill use the extra ram because they aren't programmed to use it.  It's no tlike a computer where it just sees the ram and uses it.  The games are programmed to only use 64 mb ram.  The uses of adding more ram mainly does with mame roms that require more ram.  So unless you are using mame roms or other roms that need that then the ram mod is pointless@@

I concur!  The games on the xbox are programmed to use the 64megs of ram and no more.  But yeah for Linux and emulators, go for it.

Unless you're in debug mode.... which is what i need the extra ram for. If you want to argue... just save yourself a little trouble and put the xdk on your retail xbox and try to run Halo.

I installed ram on my Xbox (perfect, clean install) and got stuck with flashing red/orange.  I desoldered them (and destroyed 3/4 ram chips) and still am stich with frao.  Actually right now I frao except for with chameleon cromwell, where I frag.  My GPU also doesn't heat up. I'm not sure what the problem is, but be careful when you install ram if you do.

I want to install the RAM for Xbox-Linux, as I'm going to run Linux and PC games on it.  Does anyone know if there's a tutorial?

So did I. I'm gonna desolder that additional RAM, and try again with new RAM chips tongue.gif. BTW How did you desoldered that chips from your Xbox?

Anyway: this topic should be pinned. How many "128MB" topics shall we see? ;/

The only place i have seen where you can buy clean ram chips is from samsung (the manufacturer). But you have to buy them in lots of like 400 or somthing like that. and if you use the delimiter program, it will remove the 64mb ram flag in the games so they can use the 128mb ram, but you still wont see a huge difference in games.

The samsung part number is: K4D263238M-QC50

Friend of my soldered K4D-263238-QC40 RAM chips - work perfectly, cause QC40 is just a little faster chip, and it's able to work slower tongue.gif.

I've desoldered one of the 4 additional chips - that's a really fucked work, uh wink.gif. 3 more are waiting for me, and then again soldering new chips from a good graphic card.

linbox: give it up unless you wanna solder RAM into 100 boxes biggrin.gif. Buy yourself GF2 GTS Pro and easy desolder chips from it - the cheapest and the best method tongue.gif.

Can somebody pin that topic dry.gif ?
