Forcing Dvd Drive State To Be Closed
« on: April 05, 2006, 04:41:00 AM »

I've just modded a S-616T but during the procedure I melted away some soldering points, god there fiddly.

Everything plays fine, a a disk is detected in the drive and XBMC can open its contents. However I cannot get a disk to backup. This seems to be because dvd2xbox thinks the drive tray is open. Is there a way to forcibly change the state of the dvd drive stored by the xbox?

I.e. a program that changes TRAY OPEN to READY

If thats not possible is the source code to dvd2xbox available, I might be able to skip the code to check the state of the drive.

Thanks

In the settings is an option "auto detect inserted medium" or similar. Turn this off and press the back button in the main menu to manually detect the medium:

Which build do you use? Hope this still works in newer builds ;-)

duct tape the drive closed? or mabey super glue?!?! it'll be forced closed then! but seriously, you may want to find some people that worked on dvd2xbox or xbmc or some other dash and ask them.... or you could ftp it from your xbox to your pc then back to the hdd... it may take longer but it's easier and you have a backup on your pc in case the hdd fries or something...
