Somebody Elses Drive Contents

I had to create a new HD from scratch with somebody elses C and E contents with xboxhdm.  Everything went well and after it was complete i was left with an error 11.  I triple checked all the wires for connection and all are tight as can be.  Was wondering if he had a different dvdrom drive than me if it would affect the HD in my xbox and cause it not to read the dvdrom?

any help is welcome and thank you ahead of time...
