Which Ritek Is Better For Xbox,g04 Or G05?

I don't care that I only burn at 2x , I always burn games and movies at 2x

And I got the 100 pack back in January with the burner and bunch of other parts , if they all worked I don't see any waste...

Just because it works doesn't make it good media though.  There are people who have burned 100s of Princo and Longten mfd discs without a hitch, does that make them good media? As you can see there are many mixed results between users on Ritek G05 media.  Just compare the overall error-rate scans and quality consistancy between Ritek and Taiyo Yuden.  Don't get me wrong.  Ritek can be a great media for the money but for those of us who live in the US, there just isn't a reason anymore to use anything but top quality media.  Here is a 100 pack of 4x TY discs for $32 shipped.  Most newer NEC models with firmware updates will burn these at 8x without a hitch.  http://www.shop4tech...7&cata=&s_cata=

The way I see it, you have a 16x rated burner and quality discs at a low price.  Don't you owe it to yourself to at least try and burn one disc at higher speed.  Just going from 2x-4x saves you 15-16 minutes per burn.  Isn't it worth 30-35 cents to see if you could save at least that much time per burn?  Anyways, at the time you purchased them you are correct that that wasn't too bad of a deal but at this point there is no reason to buy them when better media can be had for less.  Especially if you aren't even using the extra write speed.  The deal that better burns are produced at slower speeds is an old wives tale at this point.  Started way back when DVD Burners were still brand new technology and media was so expensive that people were using the likes of Princo.  It is true that crappy media is best burned at slower speeds but with up to date burners and quality media, there is no reason to be living in the stone age.  Even my old Pioneer 105 burner (late 2002-early 2003) with the stock firmware would burn at 4x without a hitch to Ritek G04 DVD-R and Taiyo Yuden TYG02 DVD-R.

I've always just heard slow speeds are best on music , movies , and games

But that site has some nice deals , heck if I got teh extra cash I may get the 600 pack , but I'll definately get the 200 pack

Some xbox games I won't bother on DVD once I can upgrade my PC's 2 HDDs , then I'll use them in my xbox's and run soem games off teh HDD

Yeah, unfortunately there are those folks out there who are still making those claims.  Then again those folks are usually the ones who are still using A03 or A04 Pioneer DVD Burners.  laugh.gif

I used the G05 with out problems at 95 to 100% then one day they crape out. I was getting 50% fails "tracking servo failure" was the error It would fail at about 95 to 97 % completion.  The hardest part of the disc to Wright to is the outer ring ( it spins faster) so crape disc fail there. I bitched and complained at the store but they gave me the run around. Never got my money back. Now it’s TYG02 for me. And a different store

Ritek G05 is DVD-R not DVD+R. wink.gif  Being from the UK, you have probably never tried TY media as it is pretty spendy over there.  The cheapest I found TY in the UK is Fuji re-labeled TY +R media.  7.34 pounds including VAT for a 25 pack or 29p per disc.  Not bad for high quality media.  While it is true that there is no 100% media, TY definitely stands out from the rest in terms of overall compatibility.  I can't tell you how many modded/unmodded XBOX, PS2s, DVD Players, ect. that I have used TY on and it has worked and always burned at the max rated speed and I am just one of many users on countless forums who have reported the same thing.  There is just too much evidence out there of TY's consistancy with quality and compatibility for me to use or recommend anything else (although Ricoh and MCC/MKM are excellent alternatives if you live in a country where TY is too expensive). wink.gif

TY in UK you can get 100 dvd_r for £45 that includes postage from www.blankdiscshop.co.uk they are twice the price of ritek g04 which that places also sells and g05 are complete crap the quality is poor they seem to start degrading very quick also seem to put pressure on dvd drive which means it will wear out quicker.
