Super Monkey Ball Cant Play Back Up?

I have a NTSC xbox, it wouldn't run for me on the harddrive, so I just went into Evox settings and switched the Game Region to AUTO, boom, works perfectly.

It seems that PAL users are having better luck with this one than the NTSC kiddos.

This is pretty random (believe me I was frustrated), but the way I was finally able to get this working on an NTSC box was to run the Enigmah Video Mode disc, switch the display to PAL, reset, and run it again and set it to NTSC and reset. For whatever reason it started working after that.

This is the one thing I haven't tried! I will post the results of this when I get home :)

Got a PAL v1.6 that wouldn't work with the Unleash method (Settings/Video Display/Video Mode - Autoswitch = Yes - Multi Region Mode = NTSC M) but did work with Evox from the HDD:

Video mode - NTSC & Auto
TSR - Normal
IGR - Off

Great game.

Good deal, though I still haven't the slightest clue why it works...

There's no way in hell I'd return to using EvoX from XBMC. *shudders*

Ok i've had a mess about with this and it seems that the game demands that it is run in NTSC mode or PAL 60 Hz. So people attempting to run it in PAL 50 Hz will have no luck unfortunately. the game refuses to load at all and calls the default dash.

It's certainly an odd one. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen a game that absolutely required PAL60 if you wanted to run it on a PAL system, but this one doesn't even work on PAL60 for me (system's always on PAL60).

I can get it to play but it plays in black and white.

Have tried the region patch and switching to ntsc using enigmah video switcher, but still black and white.

this is really frustrating and none of my other games do it.

any ideas anyone???

Hi Doublemint,

You have to find a TV that is compatible with the video mode. I have other NTSC games that play fine on the TV my box is connected to, but Monkey Ball was also black and white for me. Tried it on my other 2 TV's at home and it works fine and in colour. All I can suggest is try using a different TV.
