No Video Signal (help Needed)
« on: July 23, 2003, 02:41:00 PM »

First off... you screwed up big time.  Unless you connect to a TV that has the ability to display those settings, you're in for a long, hard time.  Reason I know is that this is one of the 20 stupid things I did to my box before.

You'll have to BLINDLY navigate your way through to the utility and change it back.  Guess, use noise as a guide, use splotches on the screen to assist... whatever.  It sucks and it took me an hour and a half of screwing around one day to fix.

Another option is to put the original HD nack in and turn off your chip.  Doing this might bring up the menu (withh or without the sound) and set the screen settings in there.  I haven't tried this, but it seems like a slim possibility.

Last option is a new Xbox.  Good luck.   wink.gif

Hi Ironcrown,

thanks for your replay. What utility do you mean ? The original MS dash menu ?
But how can I change PAL/NTSC/NTSC-M  ?
By the way, I have another modchip Executer Lite 2.1 that still have Linux bios on it. So I put this modchip into my XBOX and when I turn XBOX on I can see jumping picture of Linux welcome screen. I connected my XBOX to PC with capture card and figured out that output signal is NTSC-M. But when I take modchip out I don't see anything - no mater what input video format I select on a capture card. I'm thinking to flash this modechip with 1.8.3752 Bios, but I'm not sure if this will fix my problem.

Do you know if there is any XBOX Linux application to switch video output format (PAL/NTSC) on XBOX ?

Thanks.
Mark.

Find someone with the same XBMP with that new feature and ASK THEM/BEG THEM to write down what buttons need to be pressed in what screens to change it back! Thats the only way unless you think you can do it blindly like that other guy said!

Hey, tonight I may upgrade to the new xbmp (those new features sound cool and I have a HDTV) if I do I'll try and help ya man  wink.gif

My TV is a 16:9 HDTV.  Whatever NTSC-J is it's bad.
Even 2 pictures of the settings screen and the video sub menu would be very helpful.

QUOTE (Whatup1049 @ Jul 24 2003, 03:27 AM)
Ok guys im downloading it!  wink.gif

J/W why the hell did you click on it if your tv can't display that? Did you think your tv would magically turn 16:9 lol.

I'll explain you why I changed this setting. I use XBMP to see PAL and NTSC movies.
The problem was with aspect ratio of movies on my TV (NTSC 4:3). For NTSC movie I put aspect ratio to 0 (in XBMP screen settings) and it looks good, but for PAL movies I have to put it to 0.24. So I thought that may be this new setting in XBMP will solve my problem.

I'm running EVOX dashboard but no amount of button pressing is going to solve this because I just realized that XBMP is not loading.  It trys and then goes back to EVOX.  I can tell by how many drive letters are avail in FTP.  I also tried the original HD which is unmodified, still no video.  Disabling or removing the mod chip is also no help.  This setting must have wrote something to the hardware.

Hey guys I found out how to fix it. Even after I replaced my whole XBMP folder it still had the garbled shit and froze when I launched it. So I found it was saving the most recent settings in:

E:TDATAface007 in "system.bin".

If you are only having problems when loading XBMP DELETE that directory!

I also found a bunch of weird shit in there like pictures I never accessed that were on my comp. Very weird!

I have the HDTV pack and an HDTV.
There is no video, not even the xbox splash screen when you first turn it on.  Just audio.  EVOX loads but XBMP will not.  If I can't load XBMP, there is no hope of fixing it the same way it was screwed up.

I can ftp into it in EVOX but that doesn't help.  I've restored all files from backup.  I have booted from my original EVOX CDRW but still no video.

This NTSC-J setting either wrote a change to the onboard bios or damaged hardware.

I would like to think I won't have to buy a new xbox to fix this.

Whatsup,

I only wish it were that easy but I have no video anywhere, ever.  Not in EVOX or in MSDashboard.

Ok ! I just fixed it.
I made a XBOX bootable disk  with  "XBOX.NTSC.PAL.Video.Mode.Selector.Version2" application. Then boot my XBOX with this CD and press button B on controller. Then turned off and on XBOX and everithing is fine now !!!
Thanks to everyone for help.
2 Prof : let me know if you need this programm. Good luck.
