well the key component you're missing is a modchip, which you can't get at any store right now.  You gotta order that.

Yeah, Avoid thge Phillips at all cost. Even if not for the DVD+R thing.. For the money your better off with the Pioneer anyways. You can get them online for about $350-400 these days anyways (if not less).. So nice I bought myself 2.... thinkin of building another computer so i can have 3.. hehe

Almost everyone seems to recommend the Pioneer. But then I hear people complaining because it will only burn at 2X for more expensive media. I'm impatient so I'll probably buy the Pioneer, but I sure hope the new Sanyo gives Pioneer a reason to improve.

I've been burning with the older Pioneer A03 DVD-R. I haven't been able to test the results with a chipped X-box yet. Anybody else using the older Pioneer like me?

I also have the older Pioneer 103 and have been burning all my games to Apple DVDs.

Haven't tried my games yet on a modded box.

Do the right thing and buy a new iMac 800 MHz, comes with the SuperDrive, a.k.a. Pioneer 103 I believe, it's been confirmed the DVD-R's do work on chipped Xbox's.. my iMac came with 1 Apple DVD-R, will be using that one and if I can find it Mitsui DVD's since they're a great brand. Good luck.
