Getting Component To Work

You have to bypass the virtual eeprom before making the changes, otherwise they won't stick.

First, plug in your component cable, and install Enigmah to your E drive - E:\Apps\Enigmah\ is probably the most sensible. Next, bypass the virtual eeprom - how you do that depends on which softmod you have. For Krayzie NDURE you run Krayzie Extras and go into professional mode, for Kingroach you run E:\ndts\default.xbe and select system - file manager. If you aren't sure which softmod you've got, boot with Frosty's Rescue disc - that also bypasses the virtual eeprom. In all cases unless you have changed the default settings the LED will be red when the virtual eeprom is bypassed.

Once the virtual eeprom is bypassed and the LED is red, use file manager to run Enigmah from your E: partition to set the Xbox to NTSC. Reboot, then bypass the virtual eeprom again, and run the MS dash (C:\xb0xdash.xbe) to enable the HD modes.

Finally, if you're running Krayzie, run Extras again, and select "Update virtual eeprom".

Reboot, and your Xbox will be in NTSC with the HD modes enabled.

Well after some tinkering I managed to get HD up & running using Frosty's Rescue disc. I still had the same blank screen issues trying to run the MS dash though, but job done so I'll worry about that later I guess.

Hey Guys,

Just need some help with trying to get my softmodded xbox to output hd. Just purchased a component cable (5 plug cable) and hooked it up to my tv, i have tried to change the settings in xbmc to 480p but it is greyed out, i downloaded that enigmah video converter as i read you need the output to be in ntsc (mine is in pal) for hd to work, installed that on the xbox and ran it but for some reason it wouldnt change it to ntsc. Has anyone got any ideas on how i can get this thing to finally work?

Thanks

Well, I don't know about on a PAL system, but most of the time this can be adjusted via a "sneaky approach" within the xBox Media Center (may not work on PAL, but it is worth a try):

This option is hidden within the xBox Media Center, and all you need to do is go into your settings under "video hardware" this is where the original dashboard settings would be adjusted for enabling the option to enable HD and/or WideScreen. After that, then go into the normal configuration area, and you're all set for some HD xBox Media Center. I recommend the Project Mayhem III skin for this job. MC360 looks okay, but you'll need to adjust it a lot for normal Non England spelling.

Good luck!
