Flashing White And Black Dots
« on: June 16, 2009, 01:19:00 AM »

Sometimes the AV pack connector gives bad contact at the back of the xbox, but I don't think this will result in flashing dots.

What kind of video connection are you using? On what television are you using it? (crt or lcd/plasma)

Do the pixels randomly appear and dissapear again, or does it come worse / better when the xbox heats up.

In the first case, it could be a cable/grounding issue. The second case will indeed be something with the mobo.

Noise generating equipment in the neiborhood can cause such strange problems as well. Try to temporary relocate the xbox and see if it makes a difference. Try to move the AV connector a bit. If it has a bad contact, things will become worse / better if you do it.

regards.

Im using standard composite video cables attached to a crt tube television. The pixels flash on and off in certain spots on the screen. For the most part they appear in the same places, but they can be random sometimes. As the xbox heats up they seem to get better (there are less of the flashing dots, but they are still there). Moving around the cable doesn't seem to do anything, but I need to try a different one to see if it gets rid of the problem. If it is indeed a problem with the xbox, what do you think I could do to fix it, or should I look into getting a new one?

thanks
