Component To Vga Converter?

XCM makes multi-console adapters. Not sure how well they work but they are geared towards consoles. If you were up to it, you could make your own Xbox VGA cable.

Nevermind,. I read some reviews on the one I linked to earlier and I ended up buying it.  Thanks Mike for pointing to me XCM.

That's actually the one I was going to suggest, I just couldn't remember the name of it or were I saw it. I've heard plenty of good things about it.

i recommend the VGA cable build. it does require a little extra work (and bios patching), but you save money and get better results.

i'm running 720p on my 21' sony trinitron monitor right now with no loss (1080i is a bit buggy in XBMC).

**UPDATE** It's been almost 2 weeks since I've ordered, received, and returned.  Warning to anyone considering the XCM 1080p Mega-cool vga box.  Steer clear!

I got it home,. took it out of the box,. and boy did it look pretty.  I was already worried about the chrome finish being a magnet for finger prints, but I was like,. "Whatever,. if it does what it claims I'll clean off a few finger prints".  After hooking it up and starting it up I was pretty excited.  I mean it worked.  I was viewing component devices on my VGA monitor!  Then after the excitement wore off I noticed how ugly everything was.  None of the resolutions seemed all that impressive, even when connected to devices that didn't need upconverting.  (Meaning, that when I plug in my 360 and set it at 720p I'm expecting for it to look like it's running at 720p.)  Well it doesn't.  I guess it wouldn't have been as noticeable if it was running close to 720p, but it wasn't, it looked bad.  I connected my PS2 to it, and not one setting looked as good or better then the PS2 running directly through it's own component cables.

I tried a few other devices all with the same results.  On top of everything else, there were these vertical lines that would break up the screen into sections if you'd set the device to 1080p.  And, there were green horizontal lines that would flicker as they slowly scrolled up the screen.  These problems happend on two different displays, using 4 different component devices.  The picture would clean up a little if I'd unplug the Red component input, but then all the colors were wrong.

I guess the one thing it has going for it is that you can view your component devices on a VGA display.  But when the picture looks this bad,.. do you want to?
