The softmod may have a feature - virtual eeprom enabled by the kernel patcher nkpatcher which protects changes to the eeprom contents - ntsc/pal settings are stored there. Check if you have a ndts folder on E drive. Failing which, get Frosty Xbox Rescue Disc from the usual places and cold boot from it. Then use its file manager DVD2xbox to access your configmagic app to change to NTSC setting. Frosty Xbox Rescue disc allows you to bypass all the safety features of the softmod so be careful what you do with it.

If ndts is present , run its default.xbe and enable professional mode which disables the safety features of the softmod as well.

Frosty Xbox Rescue Disc and Frosty Dual-boot VGA softmod are 2 separate things. The objectives of using the rescue disc is to find an easy way to temporarily disable nkpatcher - the kernel patcher which hides your real eeprom from writing. The disc has a PBL -not sure what edition bios loader to do that and hence cold booting from it allows you to then write to the eeprom with configmagic. We are not interested in the VGA softmod at all.

Alternatively you can get PBL - Metoo edition and run that to achieve the same end result.

I have now managed to run configmagic and modified the xbox BIOS to NTSC, Region 1 and it sticks.

I copies the configmagic program to E partition insted of F , and it did the trick.

The challange now is, the only mode I can use XBMC is 480i , if I try try any other res like 480p , 720p , 1080i, XBMC screen just goes to black screen, and I have to reboot.

Is this the problem caused by this new Xbox Xyclops chips that i have in my v1.6 box?

Have you enabled those in ms dash 1st? Sorry I can't really help for this new problem.

With Ndure 3.1, run default.xbe in ndts, select nkpatcher retail option and tray option with eject to msdash and see if you are able to change the screen options through msdash.

I have an v1.6a xbox 1 and i want to use HD functionality for my LCD .
My XBOX had a DuoX2 modchip

I have just read your posts and  i think that is possible to apply HD function for v1.6x XBOX but i don't know how precisely sorry !!!

Just to confirm the tasks ??:

1) Use configMagic to convert BIOS from PAL to NTSC, Region 1 => limited to 480i

2) Run Default.xbe  in NDTS (what's this?), select nkpatcher retail option

3) Then  it works??


Second question: My modchip DuoX2 supports convert PAL<=>NTSC, it's a good thing for my issue ?? can i did task 2 directly because i have a modchip and not an exploit ?

Are you connecting xbox to LCD via component or VGA? 1.6 doesn't support VGA but component will work.

Your xbox is chipped, NDTS is not applicable. Just use ConfigMagic to switch regions.

Use XBMC or msdash to enable HD resolutions - provided it's a component cable you are using. My sig has the link.

my XBOX is connected via component to the LCD. So that's great i have just to use configmagic to switch region (==>Region1) and change my parameters HD in XBMC....
