Trouble On Vga Pin Definitions
« on: February 15, 2008, 08:25:00 PM »

hello guys
i just read textbook and frosty's guide on vga cable building for a non-sog display
i got confused by the pin definitions of the d-15 connector
here is the connector i bought at the local store, the seller said it would be perfect for cable building
it got pin numbers on it
(IMG:http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/5018/vgapinstx5.jpg)
and here are the pin numbers from textbook's tutorial
(IMG:http://www.360mods.net/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10005/circuit.gif)
looks like they are arraied in different orders
i don't know if the pin numbers are following the same definition?
like the number 1 pin on my connector corresponds to the number 1 pin from textbooks tutorial?

thanks for your attention if anyone knows it please enlight me!

and thanks frosty and textbook for the great work on the tutorial/bios  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/love.gif)

Hi redpacman,
did you get a male (pins sticking out) or female (holes for pins to go into) connection?
Depending on which one you got will dictate which order the pins go in.

The pin numbering is standard so that 1 goes to 1, 2 goes to 2 and so on up to 15.

I'm not sure which thread you're reading for Frosty the Snowmans VGA mod, I assume the one pinned in this Audio Video part of the forum. You might not have noticed the link to the Xbox VGA Tutorial provided in that thread.
It is recommended that you read through that tutorial as is guides you through the whole process and includes a couple of things missing from the diagram you are using. For instance the video mode select jumper wires and the selection or resistor for the horizontal refresh rate of the LM1881.

Here's a link to the Wikipedia page for the VGA connector showing the pin definitions.
I have also provided my xbox AVIP plug / socket diagram and pinout table below.

Hope this helps

hey!

is there anyone out there who sells these?

i made one for a SOG monitor, but i'd like to have one that will work on all VGA, and i don't have the patience to make another one.

i'm looking for one with a 1/8'' phono audio connector and a set of RCA audio outputs.

i'd also like it to work for HD on my monitor.

can anyone help out?
