Having Some Problems Using Component Cables..
« on: January 16, 2008, 06:20:00 PM »

Alright, well.. We just got an HDTV. I've always used my modded xbox with XBMC for streaming all my DVD rips to the TV in the living room. We have an HDTV now, so I went out and got the component cables for the xbox, so that XBMC can take full advantage of the new screen (as well as sharper images in games, blah blah, etc).

I have everything hooked up now, picture shows up nice and sharp at 720p without any problems, except for one..

All the blacks in the dashboard, XBMC, games, apps, whatever, show up with a dark-ish green tint. All my connections are correct. I've plugged in the cables into both of the component inputs the TV has, and same results. Tried playing a DVD from the xbox, same result.

I thought I may have messed with some setting on the TV, so I went back and hooked it up with the old composite cables. Picture was all fuzzy, as expected, but the colors were so many times better than with the new cables.

Any ideas as to what's happening? I'd really love to have this working properly =(

Oh, a few more things I forgot to mention, in case it matters:

The xbox has been softmodded, currently running UnleashX for the dashboard, and has an upgraded 250GB hard drive.
Kernel version: 1.0.5828.1

Hate to dig this old topic up but did anyone ever figure out why this was happening? I just joined the softmodded xbox crew after digging my original out of the closet while my 360 gets the rrod fixed. I installed the NDURE softmod and went through the same process. I have two sets of component cables and they both show a green tint for the blacks but when I use the standard rca plug the colors are fine. If anyone knows a fix please let me know. (not sure if anyone still looks here even but I really hope so)

Hello everyone.

I am having the same problem (green tint using component cables). I am used a soft mod with XBMC as my main dash and UnleashX as an app....

I followed up some other questions and it led me to here:
http://forums.xbox-s...p;#entry4343395

I know it says the problem is for red-pink tint, but someone with green tint tried and apparently it worked (Video.bin file)
http://forums.xbox-s...p;#entry4343776

I don't have time to try right now, but I will be trying tommorow.

If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know....

Hi everyone. I followed the posts i linked previously and it worked!!! I got rid of the green tint.

Just create a folder E:\NKP11 (if it doesnt already exist). Create a text file on notepad with the number 1 in it (just "1", thats all) and save as VIDEO.BIN (make sure there is no .txt after the .BIN) and put it in the folder!

Works like a charm. (i am using NDURE with the kingroach install).

Hope this helps!!!!
